PentecostalMom
things to do? I already know about St. Andrews State Park, the beach (obviously), the pier, and Conservation Park. Anything we must see or do? Free/cheap ideas for large family? Edited April 26, 2017 by PentecostalMom
kewb
You should try to get to the Panama canal. One of my favorite childhood memories was watching a ship go through the locks.

Cinder
Get some flashlights and buckets, and catch sandcrabs at night. My dc loved this! And when you're done, tip the bucket over onto the sand then lift it up and watch all the sandcrabs scatter. So fun!
kewb
Panama City, Florida. Whoops. Experiences color ones view. I had forgotten there was a Panama City, Florida.
Lanny
You should try to get to the Panama canal. One of my favorite childhood memories was watching a ship go through the locks. Yes. When I saw the thread title, I wondered if it referred to FL or to our neighboring country to the North. We have only been on flights that landed and departed from Tocumen Airport in Panama City, Panama, but we got a glimpse of the canal and if someday we can take a tour of it, we will. My belief is that Panama City, FL and that area of the FL Panhandle has some of the best beaches in the USA.
TrulySusan
Gulf World is not cheap, but it will keep you busy an entire day. We always enjoy our visits. I don't know the ages of your kids, but 4 and under are free. Obviously the beach is a must. I will keep thinking. My in laws live there so we have visited many times. Eta: Gulf World is currently offering a Groupon! Edited April 25, 2017 by TrulySusan
ScoutTN
What else do you need besides the beach? Unless it rains.
PentecostalMom
What else do you need besides the beach? Unless it rains. I live in Florida, so while I want to go to the beach, a week would be overkill!
cjzimmer1
Whoops. Experiences color ones view. I had forgotten there was a Panama City, Florida. I've never been to either place but my brain defaulted to the country of Panama as well.
Cinder
It's a bit of a drive, but if you think your family might enjoy it there's an excellent aviation museum in Pensacola. Admission is free.

Yup, we've lived in several countries and even more states as a former military family. I have to think locally so much more often now!
kathkath
Check the park district website. There is a water park and great playground beside it. Water park is pretty cheap. We have been snorkeling at St. Andrews. Do you stay at laguna there? That's CHEAP for homeschoolers.

lynn
If you have a science museum pass there is a small, okay, science center. We only go to st Andrews or st George for a couple of days a year. Not much else to do. When we visit fil, dd and I usually just walk along the beach of the bay across from fil.
