mamakelly Posted August 14, 2016 Posted August 14, 2016 DD needs a semester of health. I've looked at Total Health, and it doesn't seem in-depth enough. The reviews I read said it didn't cover drugs at all? So I guess I'm looking for suggestions other than Total Health, LOL. 1 Quote
Kassia Posted August 14, 2016 Posted August 14, 2016 I haven't used it yet, but plan on using Oak Meadow. 1 Quote
HollyDay Posted August 14, 2016 Posted August 14, 2016 we used Total Health. It is a huge book, but I wound up adding a fair amount. Other programs have health curriculum: BJU, Abeka, AOP for instance Quote
Peaceful Isle Posted August 14, 2016 Posted August 14, 2016 Acellus has middle school and high school health. I believe time4learning does too. Starline press has Health, and it looks as though it is just one semester. http://www.rainbowresource.com/product/sku/055693 1 Quote
mschickie Posted August 14, 2016 Posted August 14, 2016 We used Abeka and it was not too bad. I thought it covered all the topics fairly well. Quote
HoughtonJewishHomeschool Posted August 14, 2016 Posted August 14, 2016 I bought Nutrition 101: Choose Life! from Rainbow Resources. Quote
porque Posted August 14, 2016 Posted August 14, 2016 We are using Oak Meadow. It is a year program. My son is doing a full year, My daughter will be joining in for the second semester. I do think you could pick out particular topics that you want to cover and skip others. Quote
Mom22ns Posted August 15, 2016 Posted August 15, 2016 We used Oak Meadow and I was very happy with it, but we did it over a year. There is a fair amount of time spent on exercise - it is health and exercise. You could drop the exercise, reduce the busy work assignments and probably get it done in a semester. 1 Quote
G5052 Posted August 15, 2016 Posted August 15, 2016 My oldest did Total Health. It was blah IMHO. Pretty preachy and boring, but it got the job done. My next one loves reading and writing essays, so I picked some books for her to read and write about. Several of the books were on the Oak Meadow list. We also got her signed up for a local CPR/First Aid class. Part way through we decided to expand it a little into a "Home Arts" class which included healthy cooking and some sewing. We're nearly done, and she's very happy with it. 1 Quote
rjand6more Posted August 16, 2016 Posted August 16, 2016 DS used Total health. I don't know...It was the ONLY class he didn't complain about in 10th grade! LOL I would add kidshealth.org if you needed(or wanted) more content. Quote
