Ms.Ivy
My son loves audio books and science, but most of my audio library is history-oriented. Does anyone have suggestions for sciencey audio books a 10 year old boy might enjoy?
Earthmerlin
I don't have any suggestions but would like to follow this thread as I have a science-loving youngster who's also fond of audiobooks.

Farrar
Seconding the George's Secret Key series. Perfect for a kid like that, I would think. The Calpurnia Tate books are also excellent - they focus on evolution and nature, so if you're YEC, they might not be for you. Ten is on the young side, but he might enjoy popular adult science nonfiction like The Disappearing Spoon.

My kids have been listening to burgess books over and over for years. They want new books, but after listening to one of the fiction books I suggest they go right back to burgess. I didn't think to give them other science options. I bet these will be perfect. Now I just need to figure out which are easier and which should be done later.

Hunter
Try Stories Mother Nature Told, Fairy Land of Science and other Buckley books, Madam How and Lady Why, and Secret of Everyday Things. Buckley's Magic Glasses is harder than the others and should come after Fairy Land. Yesterday's Classics has some suggested ages listed after the titles they have reprinted.

lisabees
My kids have enjoyed Short History of Nearly Everything, Bill Nye's Unstoppable and Undeniable, and Omnivore's Dilemma (Young Reader's edition). I am currently looking for awesome audiobooks covering certain Biology topics for my 8th grader. I'll add to this list if I finally make some decisions! Oooh - I do want to add that James Herriot All Creatures Great and Small and My Family and Other Animals might be good options. MamaChicken
The Greatest Show on Earth looks terrific! It should go great with Big History this year. We loved Magic of Reality. I think my son has listened to it 3 times. We've also enjoyed The Dissolving Spoon and a number of science Great Courses on physics and geology. Maybe he would like Hawking's Briefer History of Time or Sagan's Demon Haunted World? Feynman is very accessible for this age. He can listen to the So is Neil Degrasse Tyson. And don't forget podcasts, whether is it something like RadioLab or AstronomyCast. Tyson has one also. Re: geology. Don't miss out on our fave geologist - BBC's Iain Stewart. I've only seen videos. OP - Great Courses are a great option!
Spryte
We started with Dawkins at about 10. He listened to the Magic of Reality so many times he could recite it. :) Neil De Grasse Tyson's Inexplicable Universe, and My Favorite Universe (both are Great Courses); A Short History of Nearly Everything; Bill Nye's Unstoppable. Those are the hands down favorites! Checking out others on this list now. Thanks for getting it started.
