Journey
how long did it take them to get "regular" if you know what I mean? My 14 year old has had her period for 2 years and she's still not regular. She is going on day 35 now and in between this cycle and the last, on day 14, she spotted for two days. I don't know if I should be concerned or not. I tend to worry very much and I'm trying not to but this has me concerned but I'm not sure why. Help anyone? Thanks. 8filltheheart
For the most part my dd is regular. However, during times when she is extremely active (like going to camp, etc) does throw her off a few days.
momofkhm
She's had her cycle not quite 2 years. I can't remember how often it comes, but mostly regular like 5-6 weeks.
Journey
Is 5-6 weeks considered regular? I always thought it was between 21-28 days.
readwithem
My dd is 16 and very similar to your dd. I asked my ob/gyn about it once, and she said as long as it's within the range of normal when it does come (i.e. not filling a pad every hour, etc.) that she is fine. Her "normal" may be longer than the "average" normal of 28 days.
Doran
This sounds like the sort of thing that could, possibly, be handled with a phone call to the doctor's office. Explain your concerns and ask if what you describe sounds like some type of "normal". I'd probably consider it normal, but if I was worried, I'd ask someone in the health field for another opinion. Our 14 yo has been pretty consistent at about 35 days between cycles...until she started public school. Last month, she switched abruptly to a new cycle in about 15 days, which was very unexpected. We're attributing it to the major shift in her schedule (up much earlier every day, in buildings all day), her exposure to so many other hormonal girls, and to the return of rowing practice all coinciding at once. We'll see what this month brings. As for the spotting at 14 days, sounds like maybe she spotted during ovulation.

LibraryLover
14 & at 16 and not very at all. Too much running, I think. I am trying to feed her more (quality calories like avocado, & olive oil on things etc) She would hate me talking about this, but I am trying to help. The pedi is keeping an eye, but child is healthy and I'm not to worry at this point. Edited October 1, 2008 by LibraryLover
