MamaBearTeacher Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 He *just* broke his bed. We need something sturdy. There is only room for a twin and we need three beds so they have to be economical. We already have three thin mattresses. Where do you get beds for your kids/teens? Quote

bettyandbob Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 We had one kid on an adjustable steel frame from Sears for years. It could be twin or full. The frame just elevates the mattress and box spring from the floor, no headboard. My dd has a enamel covered steel daybed from Ikea. I've had some furniture from Ikea that didn't last. But I don't think anything could break that daybed. Now I only get shelves from Ikea, but I'd buy that bed again. My older ds also has a bed that is steel. He's rough on everything he owns. That bed has held up for 15 years, since ds was 6. My other ds is in a captain's bed by This End Up. Very sturdy. I got that on Craigslist. I couldn't get it new. I got it because I wanted two rows of drawers in the bed. There's no room for a dresser in his room. 1 Quote
mmasc Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 IKEA. We don't have teens yet, but I can say our twin has held up for many, many moves and still looks great and feels sturdy. It's the Hemnes. Quote
zoobie Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 If you only have mattresses and no box springs, I would get a platform bed from Ikea for as much support as possible. Especially if he's an adult-sized teen or getting there. Thin mattresses without support are incredibly uncomfortable, like sleeping on a sofa bed indefinitely. 1 Quote
KungFuPanda Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 Someone here posted hotel bed frames a while back. They were cheap and very sturdy. You might want yo follow that bunny trail and see if they offer twin sizes. Quote
T'smom Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 You might want to look around Pinterest for some do-it- yourself ideas. I've seen some really cool storage bed ideas. One of these days, I'm going to get around to doing it, so that we can eliminate the dressers in the kids rooms. Quote

SerenityNow Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 I bought two of these frames for my teens about 4 years ago. They are very sturdy, and I've been very happy with them so far. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001GQ87NY?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00 Quote
