Night Elf
Is a bundt cake made of regular cake recipes but just in a bundt pan, or do bundt cakes need special recipes? I haven't had a bundt cake since I was a little girl.
NicksMama-Zack's Mama Too
No, you just use your regular cake mix or recipe. Make sure you oil and flour the pan thoroughly.
nmoira
I also use them for quick breads. A regular sized bundt pan will make the equivalent of two quick bread loaves.
mumto2
I have two favourites that are rather moist that work best as a bundt cake. A sour cream coffee cake and an Apple cake. Spectacular as bundt cakes which are devoured quickly and in normal cake shapes they seem blah.

umsami
Does anybody remember the tunnel of fudge cakes from the 70s/early 80s? A friend's Mom used to make those and I thought they were the coolest thing ever. That, and the Jell-o poke cakes. :)
zoobie
You can use regular recipes, but a moist, sturdy cake comes out better. You don't want to put a light, sponge-y cake in one; it will collapse and tear apart.
Desert Strawberry
I use coffee cakes. They turn out so pretty.

redsquirrel
Me too! Every time I make one DH says in a loud whisper "there is a hole in this cake!" now I want cake. I like to make a cake that doesn't need frosting. I know you can glaze or frost a bunt cake, but I like them with just a dusting of sugar or a very light glaze so it shows off the pan design. So I make a moist chocolate cake or a spice cake etc. I am always on the lookout at garage sales etc for pans with fancy designs. I think those are fun.
