Jean in Newcastle
I have a strange and embarrassing concern. My muscles are so tight that it is difficult to use toilet paper after using the bathroom. I'm finding some solutions to that but I'm concerned that on Monday I'm supposed to have a urinalysis. I don't think I can hold the cup and follow the directions for a clean catch. Will the lab be able to use an alternate method?
ThisIsTheDay
Jean, :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: I don't know the answer to your question, but I'm sorry this is one more thing you have to worry about and deal with.
zoobie
They should have a "hat" to place over the seat, under the lid that catches output in lieu of the little cup.
Ameena
It just depending on what they want to do. They might use a hat, as others have mentioned. Another option that is common is to cath & do a clean catch from that. Definately talk with the nurse.
Mergath
Don't be embarrassed to tell the nurse. :grouphug: He or she has almost certainly had other people with the same problem and it won't be a big deal.

Guest
They should have a "hat" to place over the seat, under the lid that catches output in lieu of the little cup. This is how we kept track of input/output when I worked in a nursing home. :)

Spryte
:grouphug: Yes, they can do the hat, or a quick and cath and clean catch. Speaking from experience, when one is in that much pain - the hat isn't much more helpful. What they may do is try the hat, having you do it (I'm sorry, it's agonizing when you're in that much pain), and then if the catch is questionable, they'll do the cath and clean catch. Jean in Newcastle
Thanks. I think I'll call ahead to the lab and give them a head's up on the problem before I go. That way if I need to go somewhere else (like have the actual doctor's nurse do it) I'll know up front.
