scrapbookbuzz
I don't know how long it's been since we all had fun together as a family. Just seems easier to do date nights or if with kids, with them separately. I would just like us to be able to ave fun as a family unit, you know? Kids are 9 and 15, with the oldest one with Aspergers and the youngest gifted so also very sensitive. Anyone have experience with this? Any advice? J-rap
Nature walks, camping, museums, movie nights, bike rides, bowling, board games, art fairs, fishing, cross country skiing, roasting marshmallows, local musicals/plays, cooking classes (or just preparing a meal together)... for a start. :)
grantmeawish
Not sure where you live, but my state's park system offers something every weekend at its parks across the state. We love going even if its a drive. We usually find unexpected adventure, like the time we saw a bear up close in the park.
Anne
Have a family brainstorming session - complete with everybody's favorite drinks and snacks. Make a plan and take turns choosing activities. Anne
Julie Smith
I second board games. Also family read alouds. - Well honest these area almost always DH and the kids, or myself and the kids. We also sometimes all read the same books so we can talk about them. Right now everyone is reading Bone. It's not fun to everyone. But we do lots of errands on foot so we walk places as a family. Cindy in FL.
We have family night on Sunday. We rotate through the family with each person picking the activity. Things we have done include playing board games, watching a movie or show, playing pool, volleyball, badminton, ping pong, miniature disc golf, putting tournaments, dinner out, etc. I usually do snacks and they are allowed sodas. We really enjoy it and it's fun to have everyone take turns picking the activity.
nd293
Ice-skating, science museum, zoo, bike ride to local park and play ball, unexpected 'treats' like going to the local fast food spot for an ice-cream after dinner, swimming. We play board and card games quite often, but usually pair off for that. It just works better for us. We also read aloud at the dining table every night, something every one can enjoy, and the kids and dh often watch a movie together on the weekend.
