Mommy22alyns
Does your child use one? What do you recommend? Rebecca has been asking for one, and I think she also wants to track gymnastics practices and meets, so we need some calendar pages as well. HollyDay
Dds have used this one: http://www.christianbook.com/record-the-learning-lifestyle-flower-cover/charlene-notgrass/pd/411504?item_code=WW&netp_id=1138504&event=ESRCG&view=details they have a bunch of different covers. Oldest really liked it and thought it helped her organize, plan her day, and identify gaps. Youngest wasn't as thrilled but she is naturally very organized and makes lists of her daily activities. Random
I know it's a pain, but you might want to print what you need from DonnaYoung and bind it. In the past, I have bought whatever was on clearance at Rainbow Resource for my kids.
Melissa B
We buy the Target planners. They may already be sold out for this year. They are in the $1 rack, but they work great. I usually buy one of each cover (around six total) and let the kids pick the one they want.
birchbark
We're using this one, but it doesn't have the calendar pages. URtheMom has a couple different planners. I also second Donna Young's site.
MamaSprout
We use a combo of Donna Young and this one: http://www.funschooling.net/p/printables.html (the "reach higher" is our weekly pages). I keep a calendar on my iPad, but an older kid could easily use an iPod touch if they had one. We are 3 ring binder-based, so I don't try to have them bound. I haven't found it necessary to be able to carry it around.
Mona
I've been eyeing this one for next year. The 2014-15 version is not for sale yet, but I've seen them sell on Amazon for less than $5. I like the timed hourly spaces for afternoon/early evening activities, so they can plan their time well. http://www.successbydesign.com/planners/middle-school-planners/2025d-middle-school-study-planner.html
kangato3
We've been using customized planners from aplaninplace.net for a few years now. They have worked well for our family.
TracyP
I use these. The only difference between the middle school and elementary version is the layout. Days are in blocks in the elementary and columns in middle school. I like columns better, but accidentally ordered the wrong one this year. You can see the difference in the samples. And they do have calendar pages.
Acadie
This is really helping dd11 organize her work and her extracurriculars-- http://www.orderoochaos.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=136&Itemid=76 A little spendier than I'd like, but it's been great for us. EndOfOrdinary
Thinking organized is a really great book for showing kids (or adults) the possibilities of how much being organized can actually help with life/school. We use the MyHomework app for my son's iPad. He prefers it to physical paper. However, you cannot then use the planner for attendance evidence if you need that for your paperwork.
