Belacqua
Yes, it sounds perfect to me. Agreed. It's certainly what I would appreciate (and wholeheartedly accept) under those circumstances.

theYoungerMrsWarde
Sounds like the sort of thing I would want to hear/read in their situation.
Just Beachy
It sounds great. Will your son be writing one as well ? I think that would be a good idea, too. :) Beachy
Dana
Sounds wonderful. It accepts your child's responsibility and doesn't give any excuses. You take it seriously. If I got that email, I'd be okay with you guys or would feel okay talking things out with you if I had further concerns.

Lisa R.
I might remove the sentence that states that your son was punched last year. While you're trying to convey that you understand how these parents are feeling, it could also sound like your son if the type to be involved in physical altercations. Not saying they would take it like that, but they could. The rest of the email sounds great. Very humble and non defensive while taking responsibility. I might add that your son should issue a verbal apology. Perhaps this could even be done on the phone. I think your kind attitude should clear the air and allow a nice friendship to continue. All kids make mistakes. We move on.
