Lara in Colo
Well we did a sheet cake and frosted it, then topped with crushed oreo's (off brand). We made the head with rice crispie treats-- basically make an oval, let it cool a little, while it is still pliable but able to hold together, make the skull shape and holes for the eyes and a bump for the nose. When cool, cut out the mouth. Make marshmallow fondant (the night before) and roll out the "skin" and place over the skull. Thin different colors of food coloring with water (greenish-black, pink, red/orange,) and paint the face. The eyeballs and tongue are fondant. Our fingers were made out of rice crispie treats, but fondant would be easier (make the fingernail separately and add after coloring the finger--'cause the nails are yellowish). When putting the fingers in the cake, cut a hole in the cake to put them into but save the plugs in case you want to move the fingers a little (we did a couple of times) in afterthought, I think we should have added more facial features like eyebrows and maybe some color for hair.--oh and nostrils Have fun!
