Maeintx
to help pay the cost? We are scheduled for his routine eye exam next week, but I made it with a Child Specialist Office that offers vision therapy.
PeterPan
Our VT place was able to tell us upfront what amount they were usually able to get insurance to cover. I would talk with the office.
FairProspects
Yes, we did get some insurance coverage, but still subject to specialist co-pays and deductibles. There may have been a limit to number of visits too, I don't remember.
RamonaQ
yes. Pretty much all of it.
amo_mea_filiis.
Yes. Ds's VT was covered 100% by his insurance.
Gingerbread Mama
I was ours could be covered by insurance if they found the problem was "medical" in nature. For instance, my youngest has an eye that turns out a bit. They said that would likely be considered medical. My oldest had what they think will turn out to be tracking problems, they told me that is considered medical. Now, based on those two things I can't think what *wouldnt* be medical…but I guess some aren't. Anyway, short answer is that (for us) it can depending in diagnosis. LaughingCat
Only the original exam (the one very close to a regular eye exam) - not the comprehensive vision exam or the vision therapy itself.
ShelleyW
Our insurance only covered the initial appts with the doctor, the actual VT appts w/a technician have not been covered. We are negotiating w/the insurance co to see if they will cover more b/c dd's issues are indeed medical.
Twinmom
Nope, just part of the eval was covered. The rest of the treatment was all on us.
mamakelly
Nope. none of it was covered for us.
Susan C.
The insurance co. said it would pay a small amount, then assigned a large copay that was more than that. A fancy way of saying no. We paid for all of it. We did get a cash discount, though.
Joyofsixreboot
Nope. Nothing.:glare:
lcook
Yes, all of it...or rather it was all covered at 90%. I did have to get a gap exception to get it covered in-network. This is because none of the vision therapists in our area take insurance.
wy_kid_wrangler04
Our very first visit it was covered 100% AND we got mileage reimbursement (which is HUGE because its over a 3 1/2 hour drive 1 way) Then we got a letter in the mail saying that was all ending. Called the VT office and found out they could still bill $12 of the visit and the rest is on us. Its a $72 charge for us plus a ton of gas and time.
