Guest
There is also Human Body. I got that one the last time, along with this one :): http://teacherexpress.scholastic.com/easy-make-learn-projects-human-body Next year I will be changing my approach to science. I'll be following more of the WTM approach and I am really looking forward to adding these in.
Heather R
Thanks to the OP for letting us know this was on again. I got another 13 fun resources for $9.10! And was able to share with other homeschoolers I know. Heather
Hunter
Drama is part of our curriculum requirements, here in Canada at least. Since I have been researching Autism, I have been reading that lack of pretend play in young children for example, could be a sign of Autism: http://pediatricneurology.com/autism.htm#The%20Skills%20Involved%20in%20Communication Malcolm started around the age of two, but Adrian was not really into it. Can't say that I was one for pretend play either! Anyway, it has been one of my concerns, especially for my boy. Luckily, this has been an area that Malcolm has helped Adrian open up in. I want to use the plays to work on that, without him having the pressure of coming up with his own words. That's my reason behind it ;)! I knew you would be able to convert me :-) Training wheels to play. I like it. I see that it can be a useful tool in certain situations. And at $1.00 and tied into the subject areas planned on being studied, you cannot go wrong. Conversion complete :-) Now I need to take a look at what is on sale :-)

Do you want me to link them for you so you don't have to go through all the pages like I did (yup, I'm that crazy ). You can just check and see which ones work for you. I can just e-mail them to you if you want. I am also making stick puppets to go with the plays. Actually, I am going to use them on our flannel board but they can be used as stick puppets also. I drew Nellie Bly last night as a test and she didn't turn out half bad considering I have not done any kind of people drawings in years :tongue_smilie:. I will share her when she is complete (I still have to color her), with those that are interested and use flannel boards or stick puppets. Guest
I ended up getting 17...well, 16 at first, because I somehow double ordered one, but I just emailed them to ask for an "exchange" for a different download link and they sent it to me. So, they have great customer service, too! After your post I went through my order one item at a time and sure enough, I did have one on my list that I already own . I am finalizing my order before I hit the order button so it's a good thing I caught it. Great Hive service too :D! Thanks again!
Hunter
If the list is already compiled, e-mail it to me, but don't take time to create a list. I'm only going to buy a couple so don't need the complete list. Will any of these paper dolls, help you making puppets? http://www.makingfriends.com/friends/f_other.htm I like the idea of using puppets with the plays. That makes them more doable for me. As a child I didn't ever fully learn to play, and neither did my children. It is amazing sometimes what needs to be pointed out to me. So...okay...act out plays with puppets :-) Got it! :-) Thank God my boys had a friend who used to teach them how to play, because I certainly wasn't able to do that. I did as a child make paper dolls and houses out of cardboard boxes. So paper doll puppets to act out plays is a reachable goal for me. The more props the better, when struggling to imagine how to do something.

My, my, aren't you eclectic in your accomplishments. Good for you! I'll bet your puppets look a LOT better than the paper dolls :-) As for me, it'll be a step up to be pasting a popsicle stick onto a paper doll, never mind more convenient. Many of the paper doll themes thankfully match up to the play themes. There is a St Patrick doll, but I didn't see a St Patrick play in any of the holiday plays :-( http://www.makingfriends.com/friends/f+leprechaun.htm

If you like her I can send you more as I make them :). The links you sent are cute. I wouldn't mind printing some for Malcolm to play with and stick on his flannel board. Guest
has anyone bought the book guides? Are they good? I'm looking at Indian in the Cupboard, Johnny Tremain, etc. I was hoping you would get a reply from someone that has used them but since you didn't I will take a stab at it. I own two of the grade 4-8 guides (one being The Indian in the Cupboard). I did not get them from Scholastic though! I bought them at our library book sale for 10¢ a peace. I have put them aside to see if we will use them in the future but I can't say that I am that impressed by the content. I don't know if you bought them already or not but have you checked your library for them? They are only a few pages (less than 20) so you would probably be better off trying your library first to see if you like them, and will get some use out of them. Guest Abertawemam
I would like to write a big thank you for posting the information about the sale , I would never have known about it. To all people who wrote such helpful information about various ebooks. I did purchase 'paragraph power'. I, do not think I have would ,perhaps looked at that ast seemed more aimed to teachers than homeschoolers. And person who posted discount code . Thank you very much
Laughingmommy
I bought over 30 titles. In the last year, I've gone from looking down on workbooks to really understanding the value of all different philosophies of homeschooling. My little ones (4 and 2) really want paper products, like worksheets and art projects and little books. My dd9 really needed a variety of multiplication and division stuff to ease her through. Scholastic provided so much, and boy, I'm gonna make use of it all! So, thanks again, everyone:thumbup:! Pei
LittleIzumi
I'm glad I checked here!! I wasn't going to hit the sale but that map outline book is perfect for next year's world countries/cultures theme!!! Plus the code, and it's all of 70 cents for my maps for next year. And it doesn't matter how many times they decide they want to color the whole thing and I have to print another one for our map tracking, LOL. :D

Guest
Huh, the sale was supposed to end yesterday, but the prices are still $1.00. Good thing too because I just got mine ;)! The coupon code worked fine too. Dare I say that I just got 42 books :blushing:! With my previous order I now have over 100 but they cost me less than $80 so it was worth every penny. With the same amount of money I would have bought maybe 10 at regular price. I now have tons of resources to add back the fun to our homeschool :). Guest
I downloaded all of mine and sorted them in my files (by grade group and subject). Then I noticed I had a double (one I had bought the last time), which was bound to happen . I contacted them and not only did they exchange it but they told me if I find any more they will gladly exchange them too :). I ended up getting this one to replace the double: http://teacherexpress.scholastic.com/collaborative-art-writing-projects-for-young-learners We'll be using one of the projects next week. They may have ended the sale but if you have any items in your wishlist, like I do, you can see that they are still at a dollar . At least the items I have in my wishlist still are! They also just started a 25% off sale. Edited March 5, 2012 by Guest

You're welcome! Actually, someone else mentioned it up thread. I just followed what she did after it happened to me too ;). I gave them the order number for the book I got now and the order number (I had two or three orders in September) from the previous purchase that included the duplicate. They didn't ask for it but I figured with the amount of books I have it would speed up the process. The previous poster saved me from having two doubles :)! I don't think I have any more, I just caught it because of the way I have them organized. I spotted it when I went to put it in the folder, but I am going to go over them again and see if I have any more too. Does anyone know if there is a mailing list or some way to be notified when they have sales? I didn't see anything to sign up for. I hope someone else chimes in if they know. I would love to get notifications on the sales. However, I don't think you missed it really. All the items I have in my wishlist still say $1 and the 30% off coupon code I think is good till the end of the month. Just go to the website and look for the age group you want or whatever category. You need to search through the regular priced items but you will see, the ones that were on sale are at $1 still. Not sure if it is all of them but you still have a chance to get some you might want :). Edited March 6, 2012 by Guest
