Just Kate
I hate to admit this here, but I've never read anything by Jane Austen. Can you tell me which I should read first and why?
Mergath
Pride and Prejudice. I wish I had some compelling literary reason, but I just like it the best.
Nakia
I read Emma first, but Persuasion is my very favorite. Just grab one and go for it!
Veritaserum
I think Pride and Prejudice is the most accessible. Watch the BBC version with Collin Firth afterward. :) Emma is rather wordy and the protagonist is annoying. Persuasion and Sense and Sensibility are my next top picks. jhschool
FIRST, Pride and Prejudice Then, Emma After that, Sense and Sensibility and watch all the movies and BBC series--they are really fun.

Rosie_0801
I like Persuasion, for the more mature heroine, followed by Pride and Prejudice. I like Sense and Sensibility to watch or listen to, but not to read myself. The Librivox recordings are all very good, if you'd like to take that option. Emma is a pain in the bum and it is a such a sorrow that Mr Knightley isn't in one of the aforementioned instead... Does anyone like Northanger Abbey and Mansfield Park?
