Mom-ninja.
I have a sore throat, and dh just had me try a remedy he heard from a woman he works with. Chew up and swallow one whole clove. It's gross but it worked instantly to stop my throat pain. I don't know how long it lasts yet.

Tap
LOL yummmm. (said sarcastically):ack2: Clove has been used as a numbing agent, probably for centuries. It works but, yuck! I would rather have a sore throat!
mrs.m
My throat is very sore right now. I don't think I can do it. Maybe some apple cider with a lot of cloves could work?

Mom-ninja.
Clove has been used as a numbing agent, probably for centuries. It works but, yuck! I would rather have a sore throat! It was only 30 seconds of nastiness and now it's been 30 minutes of lovely pain free bliss.

gardenmom5
My throat is very sore right now. I don't think I can do it. It'll taste better if you put cloves in a warmed glass of water, lemon juice, and whiskey, and add some honey. It works AND tastes good...and if you don't like/can't have whiskey, I imagine you could leave it out. :D
Chris in VA
Can you use clove powder?
kewb
I prefer a teaspoon of raw honey but I will file away the clove info.
helena
Oooo, that sounds... so garlic-y! :tongue_smilie: If you like natural remedies, give this Chinese watermelon frost powder a try for sore throats, it's great. http://onsaninc.com/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=
Chris in VA
I guess if the glass of whiskey is big enough, you won't care if your throat is sore...:001_smile:
Trresh
Anything's better than a sore throat. I might keep it in mind the next time I get one. My DS said he read in National Geographic for Kids that chocolate is good for a cough and sore throat.

Not garlic cloves...although they pretty much cure everything too.
