laundrycrisis
No biggie. Soak it with soap for a little while. Scrub. Rinse. Dry. Shortening and a little time in the oven. Done.
Oak Knoll Mom
Use running water and your fingers to get it as clean as possible, then dry it out, put a little oil and salt in in. Use the soap as a scrub to get off the really stubborn pieces. Rinse, dry, heat it on high for about 30 seconds and oil it again. It should be good as new! Matryoshka
um well er my cast iron pans have survived that scenario numerous times! :iagree: My cast iron skillet cleans up more easily than anything else I have. It could be that it's dirty and sitting on the stove from last night right now ... :tongue_smilie:

Parrothead
What did you cook in it? Boil some water in it then let it sit for about 30 minutes. Then dump and wash. There is no reason you can't wash it with sudsy water and rinse clean especially if it is already well seasoned.
FO4UR
Bring some water to boil in it. Clean. Oil and put in the oven to heat up well. The heat will kill off any germs.
Alessandra
Scrub it with kosher salt, using a scotch-brite type of scrubbie. The salt will discolor. Then add new salt and scrub again.... That works for me. But on some pots (aluminum ones) I have used fine grit wet-dry sandpaper (the black kind) with success -- easier than Brillo. For enamelled Le Creuset, soak in undiluted bleach. Probably TMI, sorry! Edited October 6, 2011 by Alessandra
