urban_mom
how to get them on. TIA!
momofkhm
then they iron on. If she's a spark, then they sew on. If she's a spark and they are the review patches that go under the jewels anyway, then you can just punch the jewel thing through the patch and hook it up to the vest. No sewing required to keep it in place.
Hillary in KS
They are some of both. What ages? Cubbie patches are iron-on. Cubbie "Hopper" and "Jumper" patches I sew on. Sparkie patches I iron-on (there aren't very many). The level patches (skipper, hiker, climber) I sew on. T&T doesn't have patches except for special events (Bible Quiz, Awana games, etc.) Those I sew on, though I *have* been able to get a couple to stick by ironing them on. Tess in the Burbs
My Dd has Cubbie patches....that I sewed on. :001_huh: feeling kinda stupid now. But every iron on patch on her pants falls off, at least this way they are on there...but why I bothered when she's in Sparks next year, lol! Beth in Central TX
I do the same thing Tess. None of the iron one patches stayed on for us, so I just sew on every patch (Cubbie, Sparks, and T&T) to make sure that it stays on the vest or shirt. Jan in MO
I use Stitch-Witchery to fuse the sew-on patches to the fabric. http://sewing.about.com/od/notions/qt/fusibleweb.htm
Tweed
My Dd has Cubbie patches....that I sewed on. LOL, I did the same thing. I just had my 4th child finish Cubbies. That is like 40 patches that I sewed on that I could have ironed on. My poor fingers.:001_huh:
*anj*
Ummmm, aren't they staple on? :001_huh: Seriously, I was always so bad about it that I'd be trying to hot glue them in place minutes before we had to leave for the ceremony. Yikes!!!
Baseballmom
They are iron on, but they aways fall off, so I sew on all of the patches. Dorothy

The same principle for iron on patches as stated on this site. http://www.irononpatches.info
Erin
They are iron on, but they aways fall off, so I sew on all of the patches. Dorothy Me too. ...Same with Scout badges. Depending on how well the adhesive seems to be holding, I usually just make a few little tacks by hand. They hide nicely in the edge embroidery. SilverMoon
If you can't or don't want to sew, check your yellow pages for a BSA scout shop (or go to scoutstuff.org). They sell something called "badge magic" that will keep those badges on tight. I have had to remove badges that had been put on with badge magic a couple years prior. They were still adhered tight enough it was a struggle to rip them off, and sometimes the badge doesn't survive the removal. Removal will leave dried glue on the shirt, and it may make it difficult to pass down the shirt/vest to another kid.
dragonflyer
Our AWANA program gives us double sided tape! They stay on great and come off to reuse the vest for another kid.
theYoungerMrsWarde
I tried ironing on my kid's Sparks patches and it didn't work. :confused1: So I sewed them on. Has AWANAs started EVERYWHERE? Cr@p, I'm late....
Seeking Squirrels
I sewed on all of DDs cubbies patches last year. That's what our instructions said to do so I never tried ironing. And to a pp, no, not all have started back up yet. Our first day back is the 11th.

Yikes!!! Yep..this is why we make such good friends :D After the safety pins annoyed them,I hot glue gunned them on for my boys :D
ElizabethB
Badge magic works, I used super glue before that. Hot glue gun might have been better but super glue worked OK. It looked a bit weird from the inside with super glue but fine otherwise and so easy! I don't really like to sew, if you can't tell... HSmomof2
Agree Badge Magic is the way to go if you don't want to sew. It can be ordered from Amazon.
Lizzie in Ma
When we did Awana, my very best friend was Fabric Glue. ;) The patches are/were sew on.
CourtneyBrooke
We started using Badge Magic this year (my 29th year in Awana) and wonder WHY they didn't invent this stuff before? Now we don't even send the badge home (it doesn't always come back)- we just attach it in clubs. I have my 4th child in the program and am thrilled that I will not have to sew any more badges!!!
