C_l_e_0..Q_c
This morning, I have kilt advertisments showing on Facebook. I have never had any. HOW did Facebook find out about it??? I'm actually a bit worried, because it would mean I leave more traces on the internet than I thought (and I already think I leave too many)
elegantlion
Did you click any links or photos in that thread? I think it will pick up your travelings in that manner. I know when I visit a retail site, the ads follow me for a few days. It's not just facebook, it's anywhere that has ads.

Hathersage
or maybe because of *those* threads, it thinks all homeschoolers need kilts?

DarlaS
Facebook thinks I want to become a doctor. And I DID click on the links and run a couple searches of my own. :D
Onceuponatime
Similar things have happened to me. Yesterday I downloaded spybot and ran a scan. It found 11 adbots. The info said that your surfing activity is reported and sold to ad companies.
mcconnellboys
Yes, when we were ordering shoes for my son over the break, I suddenly had shoe advertisements popping up everywhere I went on the net. Google, et al are connecting tracking cookies to us based on our searches, etc.

Dawn in OH
All those cookies track your activity. Get a cookie blocker and and an ad blocker.

C_l_e_0..Q_c
All those cookies track your activity. Get a cookie blocker and and an ad blocker. I do delete my cookies (those types of cookies!) on a regular basis. I'm just surprised that reading a thread here would activate 'kilt cookies'. Hmm, on the other hand, I did do a few searches on my own. THat's probably *where* the info came from, as opposed to here.

Nan in Mass
Don't you know that all homeschooling fathers now have to have utilikilts so they can match the mothers in the denim jumpers? Facebook is just trying to help you to fulfill these new requirements. (I haven't seen any of the original kilt threads but I assume this is what it is all about?) -Nan
littlebug42
Now I am going to have to go to facebook to see if I have kilt ads. I may not recover from the picture of Chris Noth's bare butt from this morning though.
