TrixieB
You did an AMAZING job! She looks like new! I hate to think of how she got into her sorry state. AG dolls are expensive enough that it's hard for me to imagine letting a child use nail polish, glitter spray, etc. on the doll.

When they got them for Christmas, DH & I made them each a bed for their doll. They're like trunks with mattresses on top of them. When they aren't playing with the dolls, the dolls go to bed. There's room inside to store all of their clothes & things, too.
jujsky
Thank you for all the positive feedback :D It took some elbow-grease, but I truly had a lot of fun doing it. Wait until I post the Kit blog! We nicknamed her "Drunkin' Sailor Kit" because her limbs were loose, she had a big heart and arrow drawn on her ankle, and she looked like she barely survived a barroom brawl

weddell
I love projects like these! I've always secretly hoped to find some poorly treated American Girl dolls at the thrift store and to fix them up like that. There is a message board called agplaythings and they have a whole section dedicated to people who fix up American Girl dolls.
CindyH in NC
You obviously took a great deal of time to do this. My dd received Josefina last Easter and yours looks every bit as good (probably better)as hers does after very gentle playing for a year. Great job. :) Cindy

There is a message board called agplaythings and they have a whole section dedicated to people who fix up American Girl dolls. Thanks! I'll have to check that site out! If you can't find an AG doll at a thrift store, post on Craigslist saying you want one in any condition and give a low price-range. That's what I did. It took weeks before I got a real response (look out for false responses -- I got one where I supposedly had to sign up for some website to view the pictures of the doll, and when I googled "Craigslist Scams" it was on there) but I ended up with 2 dolls for $35.
