  6. we dont have Elf on the shelf either.. we have 2 toy elves.. (the look like dolls with posable limbs) and 2 stuffed reindeer.. they come each year usually thanksgiving night. they come to life each night.. Some nights they bring gifts.. (like advent calendars, a christmas movie with candy and popcorn, small toy) or they set up things like stuff to make and decorate cookies, gingerbread houses, even drug out our christmas stuff to be put up.. etc.. THen there are nights when they are naughty.. they have made (flour) snow angels on our counters, had snowball (cotton ball) fights in the living room, they have played wii, drew on all our framed pictures, hung the reindeer from the ceiling fans (trying to teach them to fly) etc.. our son has outgrown it but he still plays along.. our daughter LOVES it all still :)
  7. :iagree: most of what Myeightkiddies posted is all the things we like to do when we we go visit my MIL who lives right outside Pensacola. My kids LOVE the Naval Aviation Museum!!

  12. i highly suggest the feingold diet it does eliminate quite a bit.. it is geared toward many things especially adhd.
  13. my father has had 3 mitral valve replacements.. first one was poracine, second and third mechanical. I dont remember much about the first 2 but the last one i was the one who stayed with him during the day at the hospital while mom was at work (she couldnt be there everyday or she would loose her job) and i was his caregiver at home after the surgery for about a month. this last one was a BEAST to go through for him (he is older and in poor health) but as long as they come off bypass easily and do not incur any infections the person going through should feel better fairly soon. and probably wont have more than a week or two hospital stay. feel free to pm me if you would like any info.. id be happy to pass on what i know.
  14. We sent my mom and my mil small decorative jewelry boxes from Korea
  15. just wanted to add this tidbit on airline tickets.. if the tickets are refundable great.. if they are non refundable.. most airlines will just issue you a "credit" of that amount to use on another flight another time.. I personally think you should pull the 2 younger ones and just go camping as a family .. if she cant handle a 12yr old who is self sufficient and can help guide the younger ones when they are out of hand.. then she certainly cant handle 2 rowdy youngins...
  16. well thanks to the military ive lived in oklahoma, mississippi, california and illinois.. and currently hawaii (and somewhat south korea as were here for 2 months visiting hubby).. my MIL lives in the panhandle of florida which is where we have our "home of record" as.. that being said.. mine and my husbands hearts will always be in southern florida near disneyworld.. sad i know but we are huge disney freaks and have always planned our retirement to southern florida and have been trying to get stationed there for years!!
  17. I'm glad you are ok and the baby is okay... But my jaw dropped when you said went home with iv still in arm and 10 hrs of waiting!! Omg! I think I would be complaining to someone at that hospital... I always figure 4-5 hrs but 10 hrs? That's too much!
  18. its okay to be freaked out .. im freaked out by the er too.. but in this case i think you better not wait to call your mw.. i would go to the er and be seen.
  19. i have the same issue back home i am always swimming in laundry.. currently we are in korea visiting hubby for a few months. he has a washer/dryer combo thingy in his apartment but its way to expensive to run the dryer so we have to hang dry clothes.. ive started making the kids wear their jeans for 3 days ... unless they are visually filthy they get reworn..(new shirts etc each day though lol) each person has a towel and it is getting hung up after use to be reused a few times.. its not my fav tip to do these things but it has cut our laundry down a lot! while here.. another tip (which would be hard for me to do) is to give each person maybe 10 shirts, 10 bottoms and a few sunday choices.. get the kids color coded towels 2 each ..one to wash and one to use.. etc..
  20. I always give a gift when someone watches our pets.. i would find it rude for them to return it.. it costs a LOT to board animals, especially if there is more than one to board.. it is their way of saying thank you ... enjoy it.
