kwg
What is everyone having? We are having a couple plus 2 kids over and I am getting nervous :tongue_smilie: and feeling uninspired. Would love to hear ideas- we don't eat chicken of beef often; fish is fine though . Edited December 29, 2010 by kwg
CalicoKat
What is everyone having? We are having a couple plus 2 kids over and I am getting nervous :tongue_smilie: and feeling uninspired. Would love to hear ideas- no meat or fish only though. Baked potato bar for the kiddos (done in the crockpot) Steaks on the grill for the adults. :) Kids can have steaks too but usually they have a blast decorating and eating their potatoes. We'll watch the ball drop in NY and then turn in early at 11 p.m. :)
NanceXToo
We're just going to do appetizer type stuff. Bacon wrapped scallops are definitely on the list :D Not sure yet what else!

BikeBookBread
Steak and salad, bread. Some kind of a chocolate tortey-kind of dessert (if I get the gumption up and get away from the computer to get something done that is...)

Gretchen in NJ
We always do finger food and call it our junk food night. I serve my family food like chicken wings, shrimp, cheese and crackers.
TexasMom
We're going to order Chinese food and watch Despicable Me on DVD. It will be a wild and crazy night! :001_smile:
Desert Strawberry
I'm thinking nachos, all decked out in beans, tomatoes, olives, etc. We do it about once a month. Dh and kids love it, and it's a fun, sit-on-the-floor-together type meal. I assemble it all on a baking sheet and heat it through. We all sit in the living room and dig in. hsbaby
We're going to my brothers. SIL is doing Mexican----taco bar, rice, beans. Easy and relatively inexpensive.

i.love.lucy
Cheeseburger soup and beer bread that was posted in a thread about soup earlier this month. I thought my family would love it!
ladydusk
We do Hoppin' John New Year's Eve. I get sparkling apple cider for the children (sparkling wine for us) and I have some cordial glasses that look like mini wine glasses and the children drink from them, they look forward to it all year LOL. I know Black Eyed Peas are supposed to be for the day, but we set out appetizers and finger foods so I can watch football all day on the first [grin]
