  1. We have just started using a secular middle school curriculum called Plethora. Its pretty new and based on the CK-12 textbooks (which are free). It's $50 for the year which gives you online access to a schedule, printables/worksheets, quizzes, experiment suggestions, book recs, video links, etc. So, it really expands on what are essentially just the basics in the CK12 book. We have found it straightforward and easy to use. My kids are really enjoying it. Finally. I can't even tell you how long I have been searching for a good, secular science program. They are going to be releasing a few more classes in the Spring....middle school life science and high school biology, I think. You can google plethora homeschool and it should come up:)
  2. So, my kids went to check on her an hour ago and there were 2 more! Both Calico:) So, SIX from a tiny cat! Crazy! I'm trying to load pics, but it says file is too big:/
  3. We have kittens!!! 4 adorable, white kittens:) they were born without issue and she is happily nursing them all as I type. Whew....I've been a nervous wreck all week:)
  4. I can't say I haven't tried that! I did dream about the kittens last night. Dreamt she had 6, but then 4 turned into croissants so I only got to keep 2. I don't even want to attempt to explain that one.
  5. Nope.....the only thing she's given us is fleas:/ And, I tried talking to her. She's apparently not receptive to bribery.
  6. Honestly, she is too cute and sweet not to!! We will definitely be keeping (and spaying!!) her and maybe one kitten...if they ever decide to come out:/
  7. Still no kitties!!!! I walked in yesterday and there were a few puddles of liquid. Enough to make me think her water broke. But, alas, nothing:( She seems to be acting completely normal and I can still feel the kitties moving around.
  8. Thanks again! I've read every article on cat labor out there...lol! I feel prepared, but still no babies:( And no sign of that sac again either:/
  9. Thank you both! I have made her up a box in our mud room and she's been there for 2 days. I'll keep an eye out for the signs you mentioned. I just think the sac hanging out for so long and then disappearing is so weird! I really hope this turns out ok!
  10. Hi all! My kids and I came across a sweet, white, odd eyed stray at the gas station last week. They said she had been there a while do we brought her home. We have 2 other (fixed!) cats and were just going to add her to the bunch. Well, 2 days ago she wandered up with a sac hanging out. I had no idea she was pregnant.... She is tiny and looks young. So, the sac was out for about 12 hours. I checked on her and it was gone. Took her to vet a few hours later and he said it didn't break, but went back in?! And that she is not dialated. I'm totally inexperienced here....he didn't seem concerned, but it's been another 24 hours and nothing! She doesn't look to be contracting or in pain. I can see and feel the babies moving. How long would you wait to take her back to vet? Am I over reacting? Aahhhh....this is why we never have pets that aren't spayed or neutered....I feel so clueless!
  11. No wait here. I was there about 30 minutes before the polls closed.
  12. Haha, that's right! I grew up in San Jose. I forgot about the garage voting:). That was so convenient!!
  13. Voted beard, but really a goatee. I prefer him NIT clean shaven. I love when we go on vacation and he's stubbly;)
  14. I have no specific talent:(. I think that means I am talented in SO many areas that I can't possibly pinpoint just one. Right?!?
  15. It's funny, I never notice most ASL interpreters, but I couldn't take my eyes off her the other day. I think she played up the facial expressions more than most, but I didn't see it negatively at all. Just like some people are very animated when they speak.
  16. We did that in our old neighborhood. However, each lot is 1.5+ acres so the houses are far apart. You would have to walk miles, up and down hills, to get to a decent amount of houses. Most people drive that neighborhood. Now that we are way out there, we drive to a neighborhood, get out, and walk.
  17. Love it! I'm dressing up, but dint know how to post pics. I'm going as a homeschool mom zombie....complete with the bloody Jean jumper:tongue_smilie:
  18. I didn't mean that to sound offensive! The irony is that my point was that people (not you, just in general) should lighten up:) I just think there are more things to worry about with a teen than whether or not they go trick or treating. Let her enjoy the night! You mentioned Aspergers....my 15 yo dd (high functioning Autism) will be trick or treating with us tonight. My dd has a hard time making friends and wasn't invited to any parties. So, going with the family is sort of how she HAS to celebrate. It would be sad to me if she went with the younger two and came back with nothing. I just don't think it's a battle worth fighting.
  19. No school today...not really because of Halloween though. I just had a ton of stuff to do for my tutorial. I have to start getting the kids ready soon too. They are hanging out watching Disney show....Halloween movies on today:)
  20. There are far worse things teens could be doing! As long as they're dressed up, I will happily give them candy. I went as a teen and it was always such a fun night with my friends. I can't imagine being irritated. As for the "begging" for candy? I don't get this mindset. No one is begging....turn off your lights if you can't be bothered shelling out a few bucks for candy. It's all good fun...I don't get the negativity (unless it's fir religious reasons, I can respect that).
  21. I take them daily, but have a stronger, emergency on hand for panic attacks. I'm glad you're getting your dd help! I wish I had gotten help younger than I did. By the time I did, at 25, it had escalated.
  22. My anxiety is controlled solely through meds. I have tried many counselors over the years, but have not found it helpful. Just wanted to throw that out there. If counseling helps, great! But if not, don't be discouraged. It can be controlled through meds alone.
  23. We moved to Middle TN from CA. I actually prefer the weather here:). I love getting a taste of all four seasons, but without the extremes. We get a little snow once or twice a year (just enough to play in), we get the warm summer nights, and fall and spring are gorgeous!! The summer humidity might bother some people, but I don't mind it.
  24. Yup, I was going to say Dots!! My kids toss anything that's not chocolate or skittles to the side. They will eventually eat the suckers. The rest get thrown out (hard candy, dots, etc.)
