NoPlaceLikeHome
I am wondering if it is safe to eat canned goods up to 2 years or so after the "Best By" date if the can looked in great shape with no signs of bulging or anything like that? I appreciate any help:D
secular_mom
No I would not.

Giraffe
Nope, not two years past expiration. A couple of months maybe, but not two years. Just me.
LauraGB
Not if I didn't have to. I mean the kind of "have to" where dumpster diving for food would be an acceptable means of sustenance. Sorry. It's not even the food in the can, it would be the can itself that would scare me (and how long the food sat there soaking up whatever it was lined with or the aluminum or...) Gwenhwyfar
i wouldn't eat ANYTHING that was two years past the date! :001_huh:
GraciebytheBay
Nope. But then I am always in the camp that says if you have to ask, don't eat it!
NoPlaceLikeHome
Am I the only brave (or stupid) one?:D It is a best by date and not an expiration date:) Although, I think the feedback I have received is good advice:).
kiana
Yes, as long as the can was 100% undamaged and it looked and tasted normal. Just did yesterday, as a matter of fact.
danivdp
Only if I was starving. Literally....like had no other food to eat. I've got some expired stuff that didn't get to the donation truck in my emergency stash.
littlebug42
No.
hsbaby
Not unless it was an emergency situation and it was my only source of food.
mcconnellboys
Yes, I agree. I would, too. Expiration dates do not necessarily mean the food (or anything else) has "gone bad" by that date and can't be eaten after....
TheCoffeeChick
I'd eat it as long as the can was pristine. I actually just ate a can of soup this week with the best by date in 2008 - it tasted fine and I'm still alive. ;)

Heatherwith4
 I'm sure you'll be fine, but I probably wouldn't eat it unless it was an emergency. :)
