There is another new apple coming out of Minnesota ( that's where Honey Crisp was developed ). Its called the SweeTango. No kidding, I'd love to buy them but I simply can't do that with how fast we go through apples around here. I like Jazz for slightly smaller and really yummy, and of course the old standby Fuji. cjzimmer1 Posted October 11, 2010 Share Posted October 11, 2010 I've had honeycrisps and while they are a very good tasting apple I don't think they are really any better than others out there. Certainly not better enough to pay an extra $2.00 a pound. But then there is a guy who used to come to our farmer's market who had these obscure Japanese and asian varieties that would run circles around a honeycrisp any day. They share the top spot in my heart with Fujis and Pink Ladies though. Oh, and if you ever find a local Asian Pear, buy it. Best. Fruit. Ever.
