Sharon in MD
He got it the weekend of thanksgiving and took it back to school to try out the last week of classes before finals. He said so far it is great. I wish I had a good excuse to get one, but most of my work is done on a computer...I really don't need to take handwritten notes. gotta love the new gadgets. Tullia
What a fantastic writing tool! Surely someone in our family needs one of these!
April in CA
Thanks for the tip! Could you give a nutshell description of how it works? Blessings, April
Hoggirl
Thanks for the tip! Could you give a nutshell description of how it works? Blessings, April Was wondering if this would make a good graduation gift for my niece, but, being a techno-idiot, I am not sure I could assess its worth. Nan in Mass
The livescribe site has videos that explain better than I can. If you can't run the videos, let me know and I'll try.
Sharon in MD
It is super cool...you basically can take notes with this pen on their paper, it records the audio of the lecture and digitizes the notes as well. You can upload it to your computer and see your notes and hear the lecture at any point that you want to. So let's say you missed an important piece in a lecture....rather than have to go through the whole thing to find what you missed, you go to that point in the note and tap with the pen and hear it. that is my poor synopsis of what it does. Way cool!
Blue Hen
Sounds like a to-buy item for DS before he starts school in the fall. Thanks for the heads-up. Carole
Laurie4b
How much are they? I couldn't find pricing on the website. Also, they have discounts for educators. This might be something that Homeschool Buyers' Co-op would look into offering.
Sharon in MD
I believe we coughed up close to 200 for the 4 gig plus notebooks...
Nan in Mass
VERY IMPORTANT: The engineers my husband knows who use them say to get the one with MORE MEMORY. The smaller, cheaper one is harder to use because you can't store as much in it.
Sharon in MD
I always try to buy maximum memory when I get a new device of this type...it's not like you can add another stick of RAM on these! :D
April in CA
Thank you so much for the description! My older son will be heading off to college in the Fall - this sounds like a great graduation or dorm-warming gift! Blessings and Merry Chritmas to you all! Tokyomarie
Thanks for the tip, Nan! My son is severely dysgraphic and I'm now looking for technology that will help him function at a higher level in outside classes.
Joan in GE
Ds2 will be taking some classes in German, and ds3 in French next year. So I can see how this would be even more worthwhile than normal. I've looked at all the models out there and know that "more memory is better".... is there anything else to take into account? Any recommendations about the best model to buy? Thanks! Joan

Leonor
This is on my off to college list for ds. I saw someone use it during a board meeting and I thought it was a great idea.
