Itec, the ministry my husband and I work with, has a few homeschoolers (and former homeschoolers) who volunteer there. One project they have helped on at Itec is our flying car. The purpose of a flying car is to enable indigenous believers in frontier areas to care for the needs of their people (spiritual, medical, etc). Transportation is a real challenge in frontier areas and at Itec we work to make complicated technologies accessible. Recently, Itec won the 2009 Popular Mechanics Breakthrough Award. Check out the links for a video of the flying car on the PM website. Maybe it will inspire your homeschooler to think outside the box. The photo was taken a few months ago when a journalist from PM visited Itec. Since the cover of PM notes the flying car, I thought I would include both.
