Mommy22alyns
reading Mercy Watson books. :001_huh: Independently, fluently, comprehendingly, and quickly. She just turned 4 in March. I just had to share my WOW moment with some understanding people!
Truscifi
WOW is right! Go girl!
Mommy22alyns
She read two of them this morning. I am still :001_huh:. Now she's "Mercy" and wanted lunch - toast with a great deal of butter (but bread with a great deal of peanut butter and some jelly will do). KAR120C
She's not your first, so you already know this... but you're in for quite a wild ride! :)
Kfamily
Wonderful!! Hope you have a LOT of books around the house!:001_smile:
musicianmom
Very cool! (I know nothing about Mercy Watson books, I'll have to look them up at the library.)
Jen in PA
Sounds like someone is trying to catch up to her big sister! It's amazing how motivating it is to see a sibling enjoying books.
KristenS
LOL on the toast. I read "Bread and Jam for Frances" to my 4yo to try to help her get over her dinnertime issues ... and now all she wants to eat for any meal is bread and jam. Can we say backfire? LOL. "Bedtime for Frances" didn't help much either, come to think of it. That's awesome that your daughter is reading so well! And I get how scary it can be ... mine is beginning to read and it's throwing me off because I wasn't prepped ... both kids knew their letters sounds as soon as they learned to talk, pretty much (both late talkers, at 2), so I kept expecting #1 to read any day, and it's been a very slow process. So wasn't expecting this one to be sounding her way through easy readers already. Ack! Not on the same level as yours, but still ack! We got a life-long addiction to boiled eggs "with a little cardboard shaker of salt" from Bread and Jam for Frances.... Could have been worse! ;)
Oak Knoll Mom
My four year old isn't reading Mercy Watson on his own yet, but he is addicted to the audio books. He adores Mercy Watson! And yes, he tells me that his favorite food is, "hot buttered toast with a great deal of butter."
VanessaS
Have fun! We've already started stockpiling books in German and English. Neither of mine are reading yet but my 4 year old likes to listen to chapter books. It's so weird when you ask him, "What happened yesterday?" and he remembers and explains it lucidly (both of mine are late-talkers).
Desert Rat
And thus it begins! That's what I said when my then 3yo picked up a book and devoured it! I always say we can't afford (fill in the blank) because we need books. The librarian laughs at us with our rolling cart. Enjoy the ride!
