  4. What do you think of this for a 6th grader? She especially loves animals, nature, the human body, and the solar system. I have tons of living books, and of course the Internet. Thoughts?
  5. Would you mind elaborating on the "raunchy" aspect? Is it language, innuendo, nudity, or all of the above. Thanks!
  6. Cool! I'm looking forward to it even more now that I know it's a musical.
  7. Yep, my ds9 seems to know only the word "Mama" when he goes to bed at night. As soon as I sit down on the couch for a little time to myself, the alarm on my behind goes off!:D

  9. My dream program...a combination of The Weaver Curriculum, Sonlight, and Ambleside Online, plus some Oak Meadow and a little Five in a Row for the younger years...and it would actually be doable and not overwhelming. That would be perfect for me.:)
  10. :lurk5: I really want to see this, too. There's something about this time of year (late spring & early summer) that kicks up my longing for the 80's and being young again.;)
  11. Further Up and Further In (beefing up the history & science ideas, as well as the art & music ideas) Saxon Math 5/4 Primary Language Lessons (first semester) Intermediate Language Lessons (second semester)
  12. I think DWN would work fine for kindergarten. My ds used it when he was six, and he loved it. You don't have to use the books in order. Each one is centered around a theme, such as farm animals or the ocean. We used DWN when we did FIAR. We chose what to draw based on the book we were reading at the time. Here are the lists we used: http://www.homeschoolshare.com/DWN_FIAR1.php http://www.homeschoolshare.com/DWN_FIAR2.php
  13. Dd11 likes to read in her bed. Ds9 likes to read on top of the swing set. Dd4 likes to sit in my lap on the couch while I read to her.
  14. Thanks for posting this. I am looking for a good book to read. ETA: I just ordered it on PBS. :)
  15. Here is a link with a long list of living books: http://appliejuice.wordpress.com/brain-suff/living-book-list-for-science/
  16. I think it's fine. It sounds like it is the best fit for your family.:) We use a formal science program, but lately my ds9 has become fascinated by volcanoes. So tomorrow we are reading books about volcanoes and making an "erupting volcano." I am planning on following a more interest-led style in our schooling.
