  1. I also thought it was all-or-nothing. I may have to look further into this. Are you talking high school age or elementary?
  2. Just what sort of job does her husband have that allows him to support such a large family? Their grocery bill alone is more than my dh and I make put together. And I have to ask (no flames please, because I honestly don't know and I have never watched their show): Do you think they would have so many children if it didn't get them all sorts of attention, tv shows, interviews, etc.?
  3. Ours doesn't have a beeper either. But anyway, it's not just the wicca books that they don't have; that was just what I happened to be looking for today. They DO have the classics, but as for the SOTW reading list---They have all of about 2 of the recommended books. I also carry a list of books I want with me just in case I run into a good deal.
  4. Thank you for sympathizing. I could hs SO much cheaper if I had a decent library nearby. I can't find half the books I want. When I look for alternatives, they are pitifully outdated. Not just those topics I mentioned above; those are just what I happened to be looking for today and couldn't hold my vent in any longer. It's sad how much of my money Amazon has been getting lately.
  5. This may be a stupid question, but I have to ask anyway because it's been driving me nuts since this thread started. What do the students do when they make a mistake? Cross it out, or do they have to start over? I'm sorry if I sound clueless, but please remember that I went to a very American public school where everything had to be done in pencil, and mistakes had to be erased. My teachers flipped out if you crossed or scribbled out something on a paper you were handing in! I have never used a fountain pen, but now I am going to have to buy one and have been checking out all these links you all posted!
  6. catalog for the subjects of paganism, wicca, and earth religions, I find NO books? Not one.
  7. :iagree: But to answer the question, I really think I would rather just buy a new one. Then I would know that it hadn't been dropped or abused in any way, and also I would feel comfortable that the warranty would be intact. Sometimes warranties don't extend past the original owner. Dh's grandma bought a Wii and turned us on to it. We're hoping to get one someday.
  8. Yes, and it's awesome. We release most of them and buy fruit flies to feed the ones we keep. At the end of last summer we saw several large ones in our yard and found at least 6 new egg cases in the bushes right outside our front door. I would definitely say it was a successful science project!!
  9. I'm just beginning to look into these, and I'm rather technologically challenged, so there's a lot I don't know. Are there any major advantages or disadvantages to one or the other? Can you download ebooks from anywhere, even free sites? Or with the Kindle, can you only download from Amazon? Can the Sony download books from Amazon? Thanks for any info you have. I don't know anyone who has one of these so, once again, I am dependent on you guys!
  10. I am reading the first Warriors book aloud to my dd6. She seems to be following it rather well and is really enjoying it. I don't know that I'll read any more to her, probably wait and let her read them herself when she is able.
  11. I'm wanting to use one for copywork. Thanks!
  12. I guess I should have expanded a little, but I was in a hurry. I'm going to go with Trail Guides, but I don't know which to do first: US or World? Each one lasts a year, and I can't figure out which to start with. Maybe I should email the publisher.
  13. Uh oh. Ummm, dh and I quite often partake in "private time" in the bathroom. I guess now we'll have to think twice about that!
  14. The going rate for daycare around here is $85 to $100 per week. What do you think one should charge if they were going to babysit during second-shift hours (3 to 11 pm)? I would think they could get a little bit of a shift differential, couldn't they?
  15. oops, meant to start a new thread
  16. Any recommendations (not a class) for a complete beginner with absolutely no coordination and not really so very flexible? :D
  17. I'm thinking of renting this this weekend. Has anyone seen it? Is it worth renting?
  18. I was asked to put on shoe covers at a house I looked at once. I wasn't offended or put out in the least. I thought it was a great idea. I would just set out a basket of them with a sign that said something like "Newly redone floors--please help protect them for the future homeowner." Maybe you could set out a little bowl of wrapped candies as a thank-you also? Best of luck with selling your home!
