I completely agree with this. Hubby and I went to see 'Paul' (movie about an alien and had the guys from Shaun of the Dead in it) and a woman brings in three boys, probably aged 7-11 and sits them in the seats behind us and then walks away  It was very uncomfortable to sit infront of children and hear them laughing about jokes that should be miles over their head. *as an aside, the movie was overly full of curse words, incredibly raunchy and took a very harsh 'there is no God' stand. DH and I regret seeing it:glare:

Do you clean by task or by room?
Tiff in TX replied to Grace's topic in General Education Discussion Board
I do a mixture of both. Vaccuming and mopping/sweeping are considered tasks and are done once a week to the whole house. All other cleaning is done by room. Of course, this is all in theory for me because I don't actually clean often enough to know if this is the best way for me stay on task  -
I am the same way. I watched the tv shows in college and I have seen the movies, but DH can't stand them.

cat litter question... I need problem solving...
Tiff in TX replied to mrs.m's topic in General Education Discussion Board
I second the Clevercat box. We have two cats who like to kick up litter and a dog that likes to eat litter and this box works great for us. It completely keeps the dog out and and the mess the cats make has gone down by probably 95%. We love it! We recently have started using it without the lid because our male cat is large and didn't like his head hitting the top, but it still works the same. -
Opinions on baby names chosen in immigrant families?
Tiff in TX replied to pgr's topic in General Education Discussion Board
I think that they should pick whatever name they like. With that being said, if they plan to make the US their new home, they might want to stick with a name that isn't too hard for english speakers to pronounce. I have lots of friends who are first generation Americans and, for the most part, they have names that show their heritage, but they go by a shortened nickname that is easier to pronounce. -
When do you need boxes by? My family has a large firework company and in the next two weeks will will have so many empty boxes. We are in the DFW area too... pm me if you are interested. :)

334 pages of lurkers?!?
Tiff in TX replied to Mom2boys's topic in General Education Discussion Board
I can relate to the lurkers... I have been around for awhile, but I don't post too often... I just personally like to stay in the shadows. -
I am shocked that everyone doesn't love Sonic as much as I do... what is wrong with the homeschool community here?!?!?! I'm having an ocean water craving right now, mmmm. As for service, I guess it depends on where you live. We have several in our area and don't have a problem with any of them. Ours all take a normal ammount of time to get food. I worked as a car hop in highschool and Sonic is a 'we don't make it till you order it' fast food resturant. That might explain why food takes a bit longer to come out. If I am paying in cash, I give a small tip; but if I pay with my CC, I only leave a tip if I have a few extra quarters around.

Looking at a new vehicle - minivan drivers???
Tiff in TX replied to TXMomof4's topic in General Education Discussion Board
hahaha, I was pulling up this video to post. It is a wonderful piece of marketing and a Toyota will last forever. I can't comment on how they drive though; I drive a Pacifica. -

Need good movie for 15yob & 12yog
Tiff in TX replied to Susan in TN's topic in General Education Discussion Board
Nothing to add, but I glanced at the thread title and thought it read: 'Need good home for 15yob and 12yog' I clicked the thread title to take a peak at why you were ready to send your teens off to someone else:D -
Life of Pi quandry
Tiff in TX replied to Slartibartfast's topic in General Education Discussion Board
I voted to give it away. I read this book 5 or 6 years ago and I don't remember it being disturbing, but then again, I don't remember much of the details of the last chapter. Now I have to decide if I should dig out my copy and re read it... -
Voted... Good Luck!

Leapster2 vs. Leapfrog Explorer
Tiff in TX replied to Jennifer's topic in General Education Discussion Board
Glad you posted this. My mom wants to get my DD an Explorer, even though she has a Leapster AND a hand-me-down DS... neither of which she plays with often. I think I read that the Explorer will connect to the internet through your computer to download stuff from the Leapster website. :bigear: I am sure someone on the board has one and can tell us more.
