  1. There is no way to discuss this topic without stepping on toes. I do feel tremendous empathy for anyone who is suffering and sees no way out of that suffering without doing something drastic. As for the bathroom issue.....it would be a non issue for me. If I was a man who was so scared someone might see my penis I would use a stall. I am not a particularly modest person though....I have used the men's bathroom several times in my life.....once by mistake and other times because the line was too long for the woman's. I just ducked into a stall and avoided eye contact with the men standing at the urinals.
  2. Interesting how you just equated attempting to change ones gender with a disability.

Our music is so beautiful that I have to really work on being able to sing without weeping. An elderly widow really helped me with this this.....when I told her some songs get me so emotional I can barely sing them she bellowed back to me, "not me! I am determine to just sing them out loud!" :).....so as she is sometimes a very sad person since losing her husband five years ago.....I always think of her when I get weepy...and I just sing out!
  4. People do change their minds though. On all sorts of topics.
  5. Jws aren't all old ya know. This thread is cracking me up.
  6. I have been sick with the flu for a week and haven't heard much. I know she put her in a state program and getting that going is slow moving. She reads with her often as does the dad but she does need more than that.
  7. I love our pool Our acre lot in the country Our big shop Our kitchen/living area open area Our paid for home Our remodeled bathrooms. Even when it is all completely remodeled though I will not love that two bedrooms and two bathrooms are all right on top of each other. But mostly I could love this home. As long as I am with Dh I am good.
  8. You might if there was no other recourse. That is country life for you.
  9. Yep. Me too with the gun issue.... People don't tolerate dogs messing with their cattle or chickens.
  10. Oh, I see. No animal control where I live. Glad I have had so few problems. Here though if your dog wanders it is likely to be shot.
  11. So what do you do if one comes in your yard?
  12. Nothing lately. I dont read any more it seems. I miss that thrill of a good page turner....a few that I remember vividly The Firm Fortunes Rocks (Anita Shreve) Sigh. I miss reading. I should take it up again.
  13. In our neighborhood......very much in the country so there are no leash laws.....we have a family who has three dogs......besides getting in my trash a time or two they have never given us problems. I do have mild concerns about the German Shepard.....she is fairly old and I just don't trust them. And we have a new neighbor whose schnauzer wanders into our yard the other day. The owner came up our driveway to retrieve that dog and his Boxer was right behind him. My Brittany was outside so I went out and introduced myself to neighbor....Ds came out too....all of a sudden the the Schnauzer 'attacks' my Brittany....all growling and snapping...but it terrified my old girl. Ds picked her up and carried her inside and she had wet herself. :( The Boxer was hilarious. As soon as the schnauzer started in the Boxer came running over....I thought oh no they are both going to attack my dog...but the Boxer just paced back and forth looking from us to the dogs and back again as if to say, 'what is going on here!' I love Boxers. And this one is old and grey like my Brittany. If we could keep that pesky schnauzer out of the mix they would be fine.
  14. One time when Ds was about 8 we were in a dirt bike shop....very reputable business...the owner had two pits in the shop. I asked him if they were safe. He paused.....and nodded to one and said, "that one is most of the time". Wow. How dumb can you be to have an animal in your place of business that is safe most of the time.
  15. Did you shoot the dogs who attacked your horse?
  16. That is great. Ds 15 will be getting a job soon and his drivers license.....both of which will give him exposure to a variety of people and more freedom. So I do intend to keep, talking to him about the dangers out there. I was sheltered but back when I was in high school they were smoking weed on campus!
  17. My son is almost 16 now and we have discussions all of the time about people we know and people in the news and how their lives go off in the ditch. We talk about how many people are in prison because of drugs, either directly or indirectly. I think about my teens years and how many people started smoking weed at 13 ( including my Xh) and how a good portion of those went on to pills. Many of them are dead now....accidents, OD, suicide, murdered....it really is astounding how many people from that small town ruined their lives with drugs. My mom always told me that you could become addicted after trying drugs ONE time....that you just don't ever know. And the risk is too great. Couple that with proper respect for mans law, Gods law and our own bodies.....I really always believed her...she convinced me! I never tried drugs. I had one-could have been tragic--incident at age 15 when I got into a car with a drunk boy ( but I had no clue).....but beyond that I towed the line with alcohol and drugs. I didn't even drink alcohol until I was 26. I keep encouraging my son to delay drinking alcohol even past the legal age of 21 because his brain isn't finished growing yet and he will have a smaller chance of becoming an addict if he does delay. I am definitely out of the loop as to what teens are doing...our teens are supervised and not let loose yet....but I do t hear about heroin on the new locally. I am pretty sure meth is still the problem here. And that is bad.
  18. I would like to hear about opportunities for botany and biology and chemistry....my son loves biology but all the jobs he hears about gearing up for are tech and engineering.
  19. Stop judging our judging! ðŸ˜
  20. Even 15 year old males? I think my son looks great in them.....but they aren't super skinny on him because he is thin.
  21. I have hips and have that trouble too. Skinny jeans work for me ...and Old Navy jeans.
