  1. I actually did this this week! Monday: Chef salad, fresh homemade bread Tues: Tilapia, mashed potatoes, coleslaw Wed: Chicken Pot Pie Thursday: Beans and Rice Friday: Beef tacos Saturday: pizza Sunday: take out
  2. I've been making my own up. I'd love to find something too.
  3. I had a scare about this too. Turned out to just be some superficial irritation/dermatitis. MD said IBC is extremely rare. Hope this is the case for you too.
  4. These are hilarious. I work at a pediatrician's office. If I had extra money I'd get these as a joke!
  5. My 14 yo ds gets up between 5:30 and 6 am, eats breakfast, has personal devotional time and starts school. He gets in bed to read between 9 and 9:30 usually, lights out around 9:30 or 10am. My 12 yo dd gets up between 6 and 6:30 and the rest is about the same for her.
  6. I have made several. I think it was one of the Singer books like Sewing for Children that had the pattern. It uses PVC pipes for the poles and shoe laces to hold the poles together at the top.
  7. I've used it some over the past two years and plan on using it more during the high school years. I much prefer this to literature study guides, personally.
  8. We did this when the kids were younger. For my dd it was petals on flowers. For my ds it was tanks and airplanes.
  9. My dh just finished building 2 loft beds this summer. Very sturdy with bookshelves underneath. Probably cost $250-$300 each not counting mattresses. He modified plans to come up with what he wanted.
  10. Yes, my best friend lives there and homeschools. Another homeschool family lives right across the street, and another not too far away. I'm in Carrollton which is the next town south of The Colony. How old is your niece? What are you looking for? Feel free to email me at theodwynn at verizon dot net.
  11. We used Fix-it this year. I really liked it, but it is hard to tell if it really is effective. The kids aren't so sure they were learning very much, but they may have picked up more than they thought. After a while I felt like we were doing too many little odds and ends kinds of things and so stopped it to concentrate more on reading and writing.
  12. I took colored plastic rubber bands and put a fancy button on them. Each person has a different button. When they take out a glass they slide their rubber band with the button on to the glass. I'm the one who ends up changing them out most of the time when the glass looks too gross!. We even made up extra ones for company to use.
  13. I've even put the crock pot in the garage or on the patio to keep even that heat out of the house.
  14. My dh wanted those to be first names, but I didn't want to saddle them with unusual names so we compromised and used them as middle names with the understanding that when they got older they could go by them if they wanted to. My dd is 12 and going by Eowyn now. Their first names are Benjamin and Rachel mostly because they are Biblical and we liked them.
  15. Yes--that's so frustrating! I'm thinking I may have to just watch the whole show again online and see what new insights I can find.
  16. Could it be strep? Usually a strep rash feels kind of rough, like sandpaper. Stomach ache can go along with this. Generally if you have a rash and a fever at the same time and are not sure what it is, they should be checked. Hope she feels better soon.
  17. Is this Tues. June 17th or Thurs. June 19th? Either way, I have to work that day, but would like to try another time. Wendy
  18. Or you could meet up with me somewhere as your excuse. I'm in Carrollton!
  19. Can you spend the night, too? Otherwise, maybe just say the kids need more sleep than they are likely to get at grandma's or make some other plan that will conflict with their staying overnight. If you and dh both have these feelings I would listen to them!
  20. A friend just told me about the acronym HALT that is taught at AA. It is a realization that when you (or your kids) are Hungry, Angry, Lonely, or Tired that you are more likely to act/react in a harmful way. Thus, it is important to realize when you need to HALT and take measures to prevent wrong/bad actions.
