  1. I so wish I could just "like" this comment:) I could not have said it more eloquently!
  2. Here is the Lego building instructions index. According to there site: it has over 3300 building instructions available online which date back to sets packed in 2002. You can search for replacement instructions by set number, key word or brand. Scroll down after you submit your search to see the results. All instructions require Adobe Acrobat Reader for viewing. HTH I too have a legomaniac:)

  8. Hmmm...when we need to be frugal we eat falafel in whole wheat pitas, homemade whole wheat veggie pizzas, black bean and brown rice burritos in homemade whole wheat tortillas, and we love breakfast for dinner:)
  9. We are using the file box too! I feel so organized and on top of things...maybe my non-frazzled energy is rubbing off on everybody:)
  10. Today was our first day also:) I blogged about it as well...It was so smooth. I can only hope the rest of the year is a succesful! 1 day down and 179 to go......
  11. Feel free to copy;) It takes into consideration all major holidays and I think it is going to be an awesome year.
  12. We were planning to start our 2010-2011 homeschool year this coming Monday 9/6. However life, and out of town doctor’s appointments have gotten in the way. I will have to push back our start date to the following Monday 9/13. This late start was giving me much angst last night until I had a light bulb moment....we could switch to year round homeschooling. The more I thought about it the better it seemed. I ran the logistics through my head all night and this morning put it all down on paper. I think this is the answer to many of the homeschool challenges we faced last year...namely BURNOUT. Our new schedule will consist of mainly six week school sessions with one week breaks in between. The exceptions will be two week breaks at Christmas and birthdays, and a six week break for summer. This works out to 36 weeks of school and 14 weeks of breaks. It will leaves us with 2 extra weeks of breaks to use throughout the year for floating holidays or just life happenings :) So here is a rough sketch of our new academic calendar: Sept. 13-Oct. 22 6 weeks school Oct. 23-Oct. 31 1 week break Nov. 1-Nov. 19 3 weeks school Nov. 20-Nov. 28 1 week break Nov. 29-Dec. 17 3 weeks school Dec. 18-Jan. 2 2 week break Jan. 3-Feb. 11 6 weeks school Feb. 12-Feb. 20 1 week break Feb. 21-Apr. 1 6 weeks school Apr. 2-Apr. 17 2 week break Apr. 18-May 27 6 weeks school May 28-Jun. 5 1 week break Jun. 6-Jul. 1 4 weeks school Jul. 2-Jul. 10 1 week break Jul. 11-Jul. 22 2 weeks school Jul. 23-Sept.2 6 week break Does this look ok? I'm pretty excited about this new schedule...I get to procrastinate for one more week:lol:.
  13. Thanks for the bump:) It is an EASY beginning sewing project. I am still a novice myself and was able to whip it up in about 30 minutes. The deadline is 9/15 so there is still plenty of time left...get to stitching folks:D
  14. Today I finished sewing pillowcases for terminally ill children in the hospital. These pillowcases are for the Craft Hope project #9. In support of pediatric cancer month Craft Hope is teaming up with ConKerr Caner to make pillowcases for terminally ill children. ConKerr Cancer was established two years ago to put smiles upon the faces of terminally ill children in the hospital. They provide bright and cheery handmade pillowcases for these children. Please read my blog today to find out how you can get involved in this project:)
  15. So I am bargain hunting for AAS. I can't seemed to find a used copy. Who has the best pricing with shipping? Thanks Guys:)
  16. Thank you! I just checked out the Osborne book and put a request in for Beowulf....sounds like I'll be ok for a few weeks:)
  17. Does anyone have a book list of great read alouds for the grammer stage middle ages? I haven't received my AG for SOTW 2 yet and want to request a library book for next week when we start school. Any suggestions for week 1?Thanks:)
  18. We only have 50 lessons left in OPGTR and want to begin a spelling program this year. I will be ordering AAS 1. Last year we used MCP phonic workbooks with the OPGTR. Should I skip the MCP phonic workbooks this year if I'm using a spelling program like AAS? We are also using FLL2 and WWE 1 for LA. I'm feeling like using the workbook also would be a lot of phonics. What says the hive? Thanks!
  19. We are up:) We always capture the best nature shots living near a wildlife refuge!
  20. Last year we used RSO life and it was a "pretty" good fit, not quite rigorous enough for us but we loved the hands on aspect. Can anyone compare Elemental Science earth and space with RSO earth and space for me? Right now I'm leaning towards ordering both and combining them...is this crazy:glare:?
