  1. Looks like not too much happening at the SC one. Isn't there one in Columbia somewhere? Granted where we are headed there aren't many homeschoolers. Gonna be a big adjustment. At least we won't have trouble getting school done.
  2. http://www.schomeeducatorsassociation.org/convention.htm That should have everything! HTH, Heather
  3. http://girltalk.blogs.com/ They have a book by the same name that you can work through together with your daughter.
  4. I can not believe they are charging 15$ to see this. I was going to take dd, because she loves all things Hannah Montana, but that is ridiculous. And that most times for the next week are almost sold out. Crazy me, what was I thinking?? I think we will be skipping this one. And maybe when we move we should skip getting the satellite hooked up, would hate to not be able watch the Disney Channel. Heather
  5. I started gymnastics at the age of 8 and 32 years later I am still involved in the sport. I was an elite gymnast myself. I owned my own gym for 15 years and I continue to coach & judge to this day I was gym rat too. Every night for 10 years. I would love to be able to get back into somehow. I do cartwheels and handstands and the kids are in awe. You must have lots of fun!:)
  6. Was very open and upfront. if we like a house in an area that was not so good he would make a comment about it, not directly come out and say one way or the other. He would suggest another area or neighborhood that listings. He knew we had three kids and homeschooled. We told him we wanted a kid friendly area. We also would drive by on our own to get an idea. If you are able to drive by on Sat. mornings, you can get a idea of who is out and kids and the like. I think Zilllow.com has a wealth of info also. You can type in the address of the home and it will pull up dempgraphics and recent home sales/ value of where you are going. I think yahoo realestate does the same. I found the homeschool loop for the area and introduced myself there and ask for suggestions on areas as well. HTH, Heather
  7. About the raptor Center and Latta, that would be good. My in laws are in Kings Mountain and we have only been to the park once. And dh was raised there. That's sad. The transportation musuem in Spencer, but that may be too far to drive.
  8. Discovery Place is good for kids, we go quite a bit. You could go to Concord Mills, they have the Nascar Speed Park, and large outlet mall. East of town exit 49. We are there daily to get out of the house, we live 5 min away. There is also the Nature Musuem, they have a butterfly room, this is in town also. My kids like going to see that. Not sure how long you are going to be here, the Musuem of the South is in town also. The Whitewater park is west of Charlotte about 15 min or so, can watch the kayakers going down. There is Imaginon in town also, large children's library and depending on your dates you could catch a show put on by the Children's Theatre. BofA Stadium has tours if you are into football. Sad to say we have lived here 9 years and there isn't too much to go see. Anyway HTH,
  9. After looking for the past month and a half we are finally moving! Yeah! Closing at the end of the month. No more having to hurry around and clean this house when a realtor wants to show it, it will be empty! And I will have a schoolroom. Very excited! Had to share:)
  10. Kohls has had some cute dresses, JC Penney, Target, that's all I can of.
  11. We got swallotails from my moms neighbor. (I think it was dill.) What was fun is that we got them in the fall and the hibernated until spring and came out. Which was quite interesting!
  12. You will want to get grammar, science, and continue with a writing program. And you should good to go.
  13. Feeling like if I got up earlier I could get more accomplished in my day. So what time do you wake up?
  14. Funny article about women who insist on not dressing their age. http://virtuealert.blogspot.com/2007/07/open-letter-to-hoochie-mamas.html
  15. Thanks everyone! We are using it to reinforce phonics learned in headsprout. She seems to be doing well, she read her Bible verse this week, completely shocked dh. Thanks!
  16. I did this last spring with my 4th grade ds. I wanted to make sure there were not any gaps. It wasn't any fault of his, I was working full-time and his school day was not as complete as it needed to be. He is finishing up now and nearly done. But one of the perks of homeschooling is that you can cater to his level. He may excel in some things, lag behind in others. HTH, Heather
  17. My 6 dd is almost finished with book 2. How many do you complete in a 'year'? She is also doing headsprout. Just curious, thanks!
  18. I can't find it! Not good!! And I just downloaded more songs. :(
  19. We'll see, we put an offer in. We find out Mon. Hopefully be the end of Feb. we'll finally be moving!
  20. You will cycle back through at some point, keep going and have fun!
  21. I use it to get all the hard stuck on stuff. There is also a glass stove top cleaner that I use after that to clean the top. Work well for me. HTH
  22. Dh faxed the list of repairs, etc. that were done on the house last night. They knew we were interested. Evidently while sending papers to us they were signing someones contract. Oh well, I guess it was an answer to prayer. Not the answer I wanted but I'll get over it.
