  1. No experience with that but wondering if he has an alignment problem. If his joints/bones are out of alignment, it could cause stress on muscles. Just a thought.
  2. Thanks! You guys are great!! Probably don't want to turn my home into a dance club! They were good speakers when I bought them, so I'll keep them. We are moving and I am dumping stuff that isn't worth taking along. I thought I could probably rig them into an entertainment center for the kids (and perhaps me too), I just wasn't sure how these things age.
  3. Are 10-15 yo stereo speakers any good, or should I toss them? We no longer have the system they came with. Can these be used with a new sound system?
  4. It may be under some kind of warranty. Some stores, Microcenter or Costco for one have great return policies. Even if you think there is no way they would let you return it, check before you give up. Yes, I know about kids breaking and ruining things too. I have 4 boys, and they are constantly on the move. I keep telling them, "Think before you do something!" or "Watch what you run into, think about where you are going and what you might encounter!"
  5. Thanks! I haven't called Molly Maids, but have called others. I think they just want to do as much as possible to earn more money. But my house in in the middle of change with boxes everywhere so it isn't what I want. Just specific areas I want cleaned for now. Thanks!
  6. This is the first time ever for me trying to find some help cleaning and I am finding it difficult. The agencies I call seem to offer full house cleaning. But what I want is help deep cleaning my difficult areas - bathrooms, kitchen oven, refrigerator, kitchen tile floor - places like that. I am prepping my home to list it, and have boxes, etc in many of the rooms. I don't have the time to do everything, so I thought I could hire someone to help with those jobs while I pack and purge. Is there a specific kind of cleaning agency I should search out? Have you found them to be willing to do specific spots, rather than the whole house?
  7. To those of you with children who scream like that - HUGS! That must be so very difficult! You are NOT a bad mom!
  8. About the smell: Put a sponge in a plastic container or two, or an old rag or washcloth, and cover with vinegar. Place these around the areas you smell the smell and leave them open. They should get rid of the smell.
  9. Garlic and ginger. After those, salt, garam masala, cummin.
  10. Virus? Pull up your "task manager" and see what is running. We have had viruses that kept our computers very busy and slowed them way, way down! My brother, a computer geek had us download something to another computer (not sure what), and download to the infected computer and it cleaned it right up. I know I'm not much help. Sorry.
  11. I'd follow up by going back to urgent care. Do go back and be seen again to be certain you are getting better. Hope you heal fast!
  12. Wow! Thank you for all of your comments. I tried to multiquote, but for some reason it didn't work for me today. Anyway, I really appreciate your help. So it sounds like either option is pretty good, with slight differences in service. I think it was U-Pack that offered 2 people to help load or unload for 300 + something for two hours. With the boys' help I think we could load most of the boxes, but would probably want help for moving the furniture. If we do this, it will be in two parts. 1st, we will pack everything we are not using so we can clean the house and put it on the market priced to sell. 2nd we will pack everything left for the actual move. This is why we need storage options. I guess I'll have to ask a lot of questions to see which might work better for us, but money is certainly a factor.
  13. We are likely to be moving in the next few months, and the quotes we are getting from moving companies are ridiculously expensive! My DH has been researching PODS and U-Pack containers. Either of these sound like good options and are much less expensive. If you have used something like these, please share your experiences. What should we watch out for? I don't know if it matters, but we will be moving approximately 200 miles - in state and may need our stuff held in storage for a month. Thanks!!
  14. I haven't read other responses, but I'd just leave it alone - she can't make it because of an appointment on that day. If the child's mom wants to call and tell you she was mistaken, or it was cancelled, that's up to her. No need to twist yourself in knots to smooth this out. Keep it simple. :001_smile:
  15. :grouphug: Just seeing this, and have prayed for your son and for good, quick answers. It may not be Crohn's. Hope it is something simpler and easier to deal with and heals quickly!
  16. You can do this. I have painted all the rooms in my home, ceilings included. If I were you, I would go out there, pick through that stuff, throw away a few items that really are unusable like old paint rollers and see if there is anything at all I can use. I have used the old roller frames that aren't too crusty, but purchased new rollers. It will make him feel appreciated if you can do this, and keep the peace. Old brushes - not worth keeping if they have hard, dried paint on the bristles or if they are worn out. My husband likes to save and re-use old stuff. Some of it is re-usable, bur often most of it isn't if I want to do a nice job. Try really hard to find a few things in re-usable condition and take that opportunity to get rid of a few items at the same time. You will need an extention pole like this one: http://www.homedepot.com/p/Mr-Longarm-3-ft-6-ft-Adjustable-Extension-Pole-0936P/202017371for the ceilings if you don't already have one. Wipe the walls and ceiling down before painting. If the old coat of paint is oil paint, you will want to do a base coat over it before using latex paint. Also if you might want to put a base coat down anyway as the previous color is likely to change your new color.
  17. Thank you for that info. So sad.
  18. Yes, I just saw that. That's almost too much to believe. :crying:
  19. Yes, I saw that too. That will be hard on him and his family. It would be hard on any family.
  20. I would call Fed-ex. In the past I have called about packages. It's good to know what is going on. Sometimes the driver can't find the address for some reason. If you really want that package, call ASAP. Hope you get it today!
  21. I say "Merry Christmas" but am not offended by "Happy Holidays". My take on it is that people are trying to be inclusive of those who don't celebrate Christmas, but do celebrate other holidays at this time of year. Personally, "I" do celebrate Christmas.
  22. Humm.... When I take something to someone's house - food - I take it in a dish I can leave and don't expect to take it home. Occasionally the host asks that I take the left over food since he/she/they won't be able to eat everything. Even when it is a church potluck, I expect to leave the food there. Again, occasionally, I take leftovers home, but usually it is passed on to families who might need it. If I bring a non-disposable pan or plate, that is usually washed and returned to me before I leave.

Wow, that sounds very difficult! I'll be praying for you and your dh and your family! I can certainly understand how difficult this policy has now made things for you and your children.
