  1. They were not here a few hours ago, I went to take a nap, my husband wakes me and says an email came through. He printed it off. And in the mail came the stuff from the bank. But that stuff showed up online too.
  2. Does that mean it went through and we are good? Or does it take a few days? We got the tax forms today and I filed immediately using Turbo Tax. Thanks! By complete and good, I mean, no one already filed using our social security numbers? No duplicates?
  3. I just need a Runza. It is too far to drive. If you know what a Runza is...please say so. I am craving one so much!!!!
  4. What are haggis? What is Burns night?
  5. Humor me! What is for dinner? I am looking for ideas.
  6. What is the difference between these? Because I just enter the info on turbo tax and it does it for me.
  7. There was a small metal fish, that is not from monopoly, a play ticket for the Titanic, pieces of string that looks official, like they came off something, plaster corners that look like they slide on to something, that sort of thing. Do you toss those? I am thinking I just should. Little wheels to things..are they broken? Or do they go to some sort of set like Lego, K'nex, or any of the other sets? That sort of thing.
  8. I don't think that part mattered because I have another child in college and I think you can only claim a limit each year anyway. We maxed out last year with older child. I assume you cannot double up when you have two there.
  9. That makes so much sense actually. My brain must be dying here that I did not even try it already. Thanks!
  10. A couple weeks ago, I accidentally threw away expensive brand new viola strings. Now I am back to being scared of decluttering. This is how it goes. Today, I worked to lower myself to the ground. Once there, I look at what is around me. 1 bathtub boat, 1 Bakugon card, 2 pieces to a monopoly game, 2 viola shoulder rests (yes, she was a royal slob and we are still finding her stuff around the house), a little people, etc. I pick up 1 thing. Then I get on all fours and try to work my way to standing. Then I walk to the closet and put the Bakugon card away. I go back, and work my way down, get the bathtub boat. I work my way up and take the toy to the bathtub. It is going to take an hour to put away 10 items. I am hating this. The only other option is to just throw everything away, knowing we will lose parts to games and everything else. How would you handle all this? If I sound angry and flustered, I am. My back hurts, my hips hurt, I can barely sleep. I eat two bites and feel full, only to be starved 30 minutes later. I know..this is all a part of pregnancy. But I am nesting too!!! How can one nest but have the circumference of a whale and still get anything done? edited to add: I need a whine and cheese club
  11. Uugghhh!! My mom was not in to drugs or anything. She had a career and such. BUT..she didn't want me and I was left with grandparents for part of my childhood and foster care. No one tried to make her pay child support until I was older. So she wanted me back! And the state let her have me back! It was a nightmare and the state never should have allowed her to have me back. I hope your SIL wins. If the SIL wins, the child will win. I had wonderful grandparents and wonderful foster parents and my mom got custody just because she was the bioparent, even though her reason for wanting it was not wanting to pay child support. It really was awful.
  12. She was only at college for two or three days. I am unsure how much officially. We did pay but got a large portion refunded, not all. She stayed at the dorm for 2 nights technically, but I think she was technically enrolled for a week or so. She lived here the entire year until the last two weeks.
  13. I would tell him kindly and remind him to not hurt his girlfriend's feelings.
  14. Can she legally object to us claiming her as a dependent? It would seem to me since we did pay her bills and she was underaged for half the year, she would have to let us claim her and could not legally object. I would think we would have a legal right here.
  15. My daughter only turned 18 half way through the year. We paid 100% of her bills for all but the last two weeks of the year. We are still paying for her health insurance and such. We paid for her college this fall and only got a partial refund. Thing is, she wants financial aid for next year and says she is going to do everything without us. So her plan to have someone else...like a birth relative who has little to no income, claim her on their taxes. None of them even had contact with her until some time this past fall. We paid her bills all year, as well as the money for college. She is not an inexpensive person. Even her music lessons alone were $80 an hour and a long drive away. I tried to call the IRS hotline and got some lady who never transferred me to anyone. She cut me off and said my daughter can pick whoever she wants to have declare her. And that was it. I tried to explain that she was underaged half the year and we paid all her bills and she cut me off again and repeated herself. My daughter has the right to pick who she wants to have declare her. Then, after that, my daughter plans to use the lower income of whoever to file her FAFSA and get a lot of financial aid. Since she will have the taxes done with someone else, she will have no trouble at all with the FAFSA tax verification. Can she do this? I was working on my taxes last night and when I put in my children as deductions, it was asking stuff like did she live with us for 6 months and did anyone else help us pay the bills and so on. If someone else took her as a deduction, they cannot in any way say they paid anything. However, my birth relatives are not honest people and pretty much have a checkered past when it comes to their finances and criminal/civil court issues (stuff like hot checks, shoplifting, failure to pay taxes, repossessions). They would not be beyond lying about this. If they did, would we have any legal recourse? I am still just putting her down as a deduction and getting my taxes in ASAP. I know if I file her on my taxes and got mine in first, she would have to file a complaint and go through a long process to overturn it. However, I am getting extremely frustrated that this is the end of January and I have received no tax documents at all. I have received nothing. No bank documents, nothing from work, nothing. So all I can do is sit here every day, hounding the mail box and checking online. Nothing. All I need is something...a w-2, anything. I can file and then amend later to add any other documents I get after the fact.
  16. In some cases, it has been. I have read that there is a new strain of the whooping cough that is mutated. It will only get worse with time.
  17. Curious. Because..this would take courage. I am not talking..you think the child doesn't spell well enough or you think the child wears the wrong clothes. I am talking, serious anger problems, a child who bullies others, a child who causes property damage in public, you see a child starting a fire or hurting an animal...would you tell? Multifold reason for saying this. I am not generally comfortable telling a parent what their child did. However, I am put off because I found out that the public school knew, my daughter had a reputation, for her serious anger issues. I went to them in the past and tried to talk to them, but mostly, it was downplayed. So, I did not realize it was a serious problem there too. Aside from that...tonight, I am at the grocery and I see these teens racing around the parking lot in an electric wheelchair and hitting cars and whooping it up. They seemed under the influence. I decided to let the parent know. The parent is angry and said "not my child." Oh..and I sent her a picture to let her know it was indeed her child. So what SHOULD a person do? Ignore it? Or take the risk to tell the parent? And the parent who hears what is going on, what should they do?
  18. If I had a magic wand, I would not need to be an organized motivated person. I would wave it and have a house keeper, nanny...etc.
  19. Even if there were mental health issues, nothing at all you can do. My own daughter has no empathy or reciprocal emotions. She has serious anger and rage issues. She lies so much there is an entire different world around her. The day she turned 18 yrs old, we had no legal right to force her to get help. We took her to the doctor, we got her meds, we got her in to therapy, but she did not want it. Not a thing you can do about it at all. In our case, there was one thing....we could have pressed criminal charges. But I doubt that would have helped her mental health issues.
  20. We do little leggings or shorts length leggings.
  21. I just want to say how stupid and wasteful our government is. Do they spend more money on actual medical care? Or on this stupidity of paperwork? uugghhh!!!! I wish one of these times, in a government shut down, that the government would actually shut down for a few days so we can have a break from all this stupidity!
  22. If I were running a business, I would allow religious jewelry or whatever else, but...I would not allow shirts with messages. Everyone would wear matching shirts. IF a manager, or owner, or whatever else, allowed the employees to wear shirts with messages, I would assume that represents the company. If I found their message offensive, I would not continue to go there.
