  1. Once I get the moves down, I'll mute her and listen to music instead-which is very funny b/c that was what I was thinking for any exercise video.
  2. Uh, I just canceled my Netflix account a few days ago and I saw a ad on tv for Daily Dozen by Denise Austin. I've never watched her but this video seems to have everything I want. With 12 easy exercises in 12 minutes a day, you can get and stay fit with a program that fits your schedule. CARDIO-ATHLETIC (12 min): Rev up your metabolism, and your athleticism, with 12 heart-pumping exercises that blast calories and incinerate fat. CARDIO KICKBOX (12 min): Punch, kick, and shuffle yourself slim with 12 cardio-charged moves that allow you to progress at your own pace. LOWER BODY SCULPT (12 min): Tone your hips, thighs, buttocks, and abs with 12 targeted exercises to slim saddlebags, shape the rear, and tighten the tummy. UPPER BODY SCULPT (12 min): Row, curl, and plank your way to sexier shoulders, arms, and abs with 12 super-sculpting upper body exercises. YOGA STRETCH (12 min): Release tension and improve circulation with 12 yoga-inspired moves to stretch and soothe every muscle in the body. I just figured someone has used Denise's DVDs and has an opinion, I want to combine this with daily walking. Is she annoying? I'm not a very coordinated person, dance exercise videos leave me feeling deflated and clumsy which is not the feeling you want during/after exercising.
  3. None of that is your problem, shop when YOU want to. Repeat to yourself, "I am the customer." Lol :grouphug:
  4. 1. You're a customer just like everyone else. 2. You did your part, you shopped at their store, used their promotions and coupons are a part of the business. Your job as a customer was accomplished. 3. Instead of feeling bad about people behind you, ask the cashier if another lane could be opened- it is THEIR job, not yours to take care of customers. :D 4. You SAVED money!!! You should enjoy the DEAL you got!!! :hurray: You owe no one anything, they could get the same deal if they spent the same time you spent...but they didn't. As for customer service at the places you shop, you have to complain for it to get better. You have to leave suggestions or ask to speak to a manager above whomever you're dealing with. I know you won't do that but even writing a letter would be better than nothing. Part of the reason customer service has deteriorated is b/c people stopped holding others accountable. You bet I'll tell a cashier s/he's being rude if s/he holds a conversation with another cashier (non-work related) the entire time s/he checks me out. It's rude and horrible customer service. As far as trying to fleece you, I don't think that's the case. The problem is lack of customer service and consideration. At our store, we walk a customer to where an item is located or they get specific verbal location, Aisle 8 on the right halfway down on the top shelf. If there is a price difference in any way, an employee walks over to where the customer got the item and checks it. If we did anything wrong (mislabeled, etc.) we honor the price THAT time and fix it immediately. I'm sorry for your experience and it's wrong that you were treated that way. I wouldn't quit using coupons or anything you're doing...look at what you saved! Wow. Next time you're given attitude ask them flat out, 'do you want my business or not?' You might be embarrassed for doing it but goodness, why should YOU get hassled for shopping ANYWHERE?
  5. -Gathering and Planning a Yard Sale -Turn in a filled out proctor form for college *will do today* -Taking 3 boxes of books to used book store Ultimately, more decluttering and organization...I never feel organized enough. Sigh.
  6. Everyday we do a little bit, either reading a read aloud, mapwork, independent reading, art project, something is done everyday that corresponds with our history program. It's the same for science here too. :)
  7. The order will be placed within the next week!
  8. You can search for 'Jessica' in the search box, I pull your posts all the time when I'm searching for my own. :)
  9. :iagree: If you can accept that your ideal may need to be downsized in regards to homeschooling and your dh is supportive, I say GO for it!!! The important part is to take care of yourself. With self-discipline and time management...not to mention a little supportive help from dh— you can do it and do it well. I have a little help by ds4 being in Montessori PreK so while he's gone I can truly focus with dd8 and accomplish my own schoolwork. I work an average 20 hours a week at a part-time job (nights/wkends). I value my time greatly, so much so than pre-work, pre-college. A supportive spouse is priceless, I'm still doing all the housework/home maintenance/bills on top of everything but my own dh is at least feeding the kids while I'm at work. I have to be careful to take care of myself, one self-indulgent night of watching a movie until 1 am (after getting home at 10:30pm) can wreck me for days. Eating healthy and exercising are priority when adding more stress, at least imo. Don't let your dreams wait too long! :)
  10. Hey no problem! I've completed Baby Step One! :hurray: Now to move on to the debt. Since I've been so frugal lately I'm going to splurge tomorrow night and have a dinner out, including a glass of wine to celebrate!
  11. 1. a Bible 2. Math on the Level (PreK-8) 3. All 4 years of TOG 4. Simply Spelling 5. Writing Aids from TOG 6. The Handbook of Nature Study by A. Comstock 7. Some type of upper level math for 9-12 Whew, that was hard!
  12. Not without regard to a calendar but I schedule 9 weeks of work at a time with a broad overview. If we will finish a curricula before the end of the year, I'll have something else to fill the spot. For example, this year we finished Primary Language Lessons, we've started Writing Tales 1 and even if it goes into next year we'll start Intermediate Language Lessons after that. I focus on teaching the skills, not finishing the curricula. Now, for history- since my oldest is in the first cycle, I try to finish a year's curricula within a year by trimming work b/c I want her exposed to it more than I want to dive into each facet. We are skipping Modern History for 4th and focusing on geography and literature but I feel that is what my child needs at this stage. I make an overview of the year. How many weeks will it take to get through the material, how many days a week will we do each subject? That way I can have a handle on what the year will require. I do not plan out each day but aim instead of finishing a week's work within a week- if we want to take Monday off, we can but know we need to have the work done by Friday (sometimes Sat. :) ). Detailed planning takes time. The trick is figuring out how much it is helping you. If you don't follow your plan after spending 4 hours planning it out, you may not be utilizing your time wisely. Sometimes planning is another way of procrastinating (ask me how I know!) or feeling more secure about what you're doing but then you don't follow through and want to stay in the planning mode. There's a balance. Everyone has their own balance. Good luck! It took me two years to find my balance but once you have it...it's wonderful! ;)
  13. Even the author said the true ending would have been all of them destroyed, the battle is drawn out so when I finally read the ending, I was satisfied. A little fantasy, where it works out for the heroine isn't really such a bad thing is it? Knowing that Meyer would have killed them off made me hope that there will be future books about Edward and Bella or least Resmee (I can't remember for sure if that's the name). I read all 4 books in about 3 days and walked away satisified.
  14. I was handed my laundry at 13- great job Mom!
  15. Well I went to see Revolutionary Road instead. I didn't use the free movie pass b/c I wanted to see that movie more than the other two. I'm glad I saw it, others walking out of it thought it was slow moving and boring but I thought it was...wonderful in a weird way. I guess those who can't relate may not 'get' it but I did. I'm glad I saw it alone, no one to talk to about it afterwards was very nice. :)
  16. I've been able to sell most of the curricula sitting around our house not being used and make a huge dent into next year's cost. Not only that I've been able to collect a lot of next year's curricula for less than I'd pay at Rainbow Resource, sometimes even 50% off RR's prices! I haven't sat down to crunch numbers, how much earned from sold items minus the mailing costs and how much spent on new/used curricula but I'm tickled PINK b/c I know it has been worth it. I haven't spent any of my own money to buy the new stuff, just the money I earned. In the past I've just bought new b/c I figured I have 2 kids to use everything with so it's better to buy new and wear it down ourselves. Okay, probably a waste of a post but thank you Peace Hill Press for this board!!!
  17. Benjamin Button it is! I need 'life-changing' movies right now, lol. I'll just take some tissues...
  18. Yes, counseling by yourself is a good idea. I think you need to commit to being 100% open and honest though for it to be worth your time. There are some issues that need individual counseling and if nothing else, you will feel like you're DOING something with a healthy outside approach.
  19. Not the only one, I have details up through 8th grade planned out with room to change.
  20. Leave it alone, money and family don't mix well unless the person giving the money will do so freely without strings and there seems to be strings here. I wouldn't push anything, let your dh be the one who decides if approaching his mother would be a good idea, it is his relationship with her, not yours. I don't think it's a good idea either way.
  21. I'm taking myself out to the movies tonight and I don't know which movie to go see. I have free movie passes to use (a failed attempt to take ds4, dd8 to see Tale of Desperaux, :( )
  22. The Hive Mind knows all...didn't you get the memo? Information tends to go in cycles around here, just as people join the board and some leave. If you stick around, someone next year will post almost the same exact post as yours. :D If you think LibraryThing is cool (there is a WTM group in the Groups area) check out BookMooch.com This is a light-hearted post, if taken any other way...I'm sorry. Black and white words don't always translate the cheshire cat grin...
  23. Up anywhere between 6-6:30 am depending on if our dog wakes me up or our 4yo. If left on my own, I cannot sleep past 7 am. I try to take a nap on the nights I work 4-10:30pm but I'm averaging about 1 nap every two weeks right now, lol! On nights I work, I'm asleep by midnight. On nights I don't work, I'm asleep by 11-11:30pm. I'm averaging about 6-6.5 hours of sleep a night, I do much better on 7.
  24. Physics with Toys is by terrificscience.com I looked at the Physical Science with Children's Literature but it was a lot of teacher prep and was set up more for a classroom than what I needed. Laura in China has Physics with Toys if you have questions about that particular title, I know she's pleased with it.
