  1. Thank you! My dd will be a young 5 also (June) so I am glad to see that this is a good age for this program.
  2. Rachel, thank you for taking the time to break this down for me. I am so excited to see that so many are happy with this curriculum. I spent ALOT of time researching curriculums. I wanted to have a thorough program, but a gentileone too. Thanks! Kristen
  3. Thanks so much for this wonderful response! I appreciate the great detail. I will definitely be going through the devotional. Thanks for the heads up! My dd is pretty sensitive. I forgot to mention that I will also be using FIAR book list and lapbooks. I am glad to see that for the most part everyone seems to really like the program. Thanks again. Kristen
  4. There has been alot of discussion lately about HOD. Not specifically about LHFHG, but I am wondering how this has worked for you. Do you feel it is/was a solid program? We are going to use it in the fall for Kindergarten. I just recieved mine and it looks great! I would just like to hear thoughts from those who have used this already. We will also be using HWT K, RS A math, and OPGTTR.
  5. DD14 - So far today, Latin Lesson, Practiced her voice lesson, working on her writing lesson on Ancient Egypt right now. Later today reading & history (Sonlight Core 6), math, vocab and science study guide. DD 4 - at preschool right now. After lunch, OPGTR lesson, R&S preschool workbooks, practicing her name with uppercase first letter and lower case for the rest, and she has picked out lots of books to read today. Naptime. =)
  6. OK, my dd 14 just started watching them about an hour ago and we are hooked. Thanks for posting this!!!
  7. Yes, both of my teens were read to their entire childhood and loved it. They do not read at all for fun.....it makes me sad. =(
  8. That was me!!! My son has been using honey for about 5 years. It really does work. He doesn't use a cleaner though. He just washes with water and appiles the honey, waits about 15 min, then washes off with a washcloth. In the summertime he does this twice a day. Try it!!
  9. I would go and check to see if your library has it. That way you can see for yourself where your daughter should be. I just did this recently. I love the way this book teaches and I have already ordered mine for next year.
  10. This is what I thought it meant. I agree, I wouldn't let her wear it. Most people know what that saying refers to. Sorry.
  11. I am happy to see that they are so well liked! We are heading to the library now.:D
  12. Oh good. Thank you, I am very excited to get them. :D
  13. Has anyone read these with thier dc? Could you tell me what age they are appropriate for? I have a 4.5 yr old dd that I would love to get these for.
  14. My dd (8th grade now) did Core 5 last year. No problems. We actually loved it!! She is doing Core 6 this year. Core 5 would be no problem for your 7 th grader. I think that if you all read together and the 4th grader works on the EHE along with the 7th grader, they will do well. There are a couple of stories that may be over the 4th graders head. However, if you have time, you could maybe stop and elaborate on certain things or go to the reader guides to help. I think it is doable. I would be glad to help you if you have any questions about Core 5 or 6.
  15. I actually do not mind having the kids over my house. I love kids and I babysat for many years. Now, this does not mean that I like rude kids. I have only encountered one truly rude child and I have had many over the years. I do have one friend though that will invite my two girls 4 & 13 (she has got girls the same age) to go to a movie or shopping or whatever and then she will say would you mind keeping ______ her 1 year old. This has happened quite a few times. I really do not mind keeping her, but just the way she goes about it really irks me. :glare:
  16. Where did you get this hanging file holder? I LOVE it!!!
  17. A my name is Alice, was one of my dd's favorites!!!
  18. Thanks so much!!! Yes, they were delicious! All of my kids ate them even my very very picky 18 yr old. :D
  19. A neighbor gave me a gallon size ziplock bag of store bought frozen Lumpia. No cooking directions. I am frying them in veg oil and taking them out when they float. Is this right?
