No, we're first generation homeschoolers here. I attended Dixie Elementary, FCAHS, Jones and USM.

Hey, I don't have my list with me, but some of the things off the top of my head that we are doing this coming year: pledge to the Bible, pledge to the Christian flag, plagues of Egypt, Jesus' disciples, days of creation, the 10 commandments, the Lord's prayer, John 3:16, Psalm 23, books of old and new testament ... I can't remember all the versus off the top of my head, but if you want I can post them tomorrow.

Do you know how long the lessons are (time wise)? Also, is it just the DVD's? No workbooks? It really does look good. I sent the link to my husband to check out.

We used SL readers too. I especially like the readers quide, b/c of the review questions. I used the SL readers as dd "alone time" reading. With the review questions, I didn't have to sit down and read all the books.

Just keep watching it. Amazon's prices go up and down. Also, check out Walmart. I saw a Scotch brand there this weekend for $20something.

I'm going to mark this one in my book for next school year (not this coming one). We are working on the order of the books of the bible this year. This book looks like it would be great after we've learned that (with all the passage look ups!). Seems like it has a whole lot in one book. Thanks for recommending it!

I second the rec. for ETC. I would make reading my primary focus, above all other academic work. The first advice I ever got about homeschooling came from a very seasoned Mama, who told me that if your child can read well, they can do anything. I wished I had listened to her. We struggled for almost 2 years before this Mama finally realized that the seasoned Mama was right and put all else aside and focused on reading. My advice --- read, read, read.

Anyone have any suggestion for a book almost exactly like Leading Little Ones to God by Marian M. Schoolland, only on the next level? I love this book and have used it for 2 years, but would like something a little more for my soon to be 9 year old. thanks

Everyone at my house loves Liberty's Kids. It's a favorite for "movie night". Is there another series that I don't know about that covers more World History? (any era) thanks!
