  1. I just found it through the way back machine. https://web.archive.org/web/20131205011514/http://www.tanglewoodeducation.com/
  2. There is a pretty long thread here. We did some, and enjoyed it but decided to go with US history instead because the kids asked for it. We would have only been using LoL for history for the most part anyway.
  3. My kids love all the levels... even my 10 year old loves the K projects. They are really not grade specific. Yes kinder is slightly easier projects, but they aren't "below" any kids. I have heard of many mom's who do the projects too.... ummmm I might have done one or two but I'm not going to out myself ;)
  4. We love it too... and the grade levels are totally disregarded in our home. My 3rd and 4th graders love the K level as much as they love any of the others!
  5. Nope. There is a small discount if you subscribe to more than 1 of their sites, but that's about it. They are not even OK with 2 families sharing a subscription.
  6. I was really hoping someone had something. My kids are not impressed with the "experiments" in Mr.Q, I was really hoping to liven it up without having to think too hard lol.
  7. McRuffy!!! McRuffy is advanced he my do better working a grade lower. I also have one who is not mathy, she didn't struggle grasping concepts with McRuffy, but it moved too fast for her. We moved her to Teaching Textbooks and she is a whole new kid when it comes to math. Your son may be able to do TT 3.
  8. My kids seem to grasp everything quicker by watching it. Has anyone made a list of videos the complement any of the Mr. Q Science books?
  9. You do have to sit with him, or at least be nearby and helping him. You can't expect a computer program to take the place of you as a teacher/mentor... that goes for everything, forever! That is why so many complain about things like Teaching Textbooks math. People buy it thinking it takes them out of the equation, then their kids fail at math and the parent blames the program when the parent wasn't making sure the student was actually grasping the concepts and not just "playing on the computer".
  10. The Leap Frog Letter and Talking Words Factories videos all were a huge help too. My kids don't care for the new Leap Frog videos, but those older ones are worth 10 times their weight in gold!
  11. Between Readingeggs and working with me, they learned how to blend. I am sure readingeggs helped... a lot! We use Hooked on Phonics and the videos with the newer version were also a huge help.
  12. Readingeggs! My kids never got much of anything out of starfall. Ooka Island is hard to understand what they are saying as well as ClickNKids. I figure if I have a hard time hearing what the program is saying, my kids sure are going to struggle with it. My kids love Readingeggs and it really helped build confidence with my one who struggled.
  13. McRuffy is very hands on and fun. After 1st grade there becomes a lot more work each day, we do not do it all because it requires too much sitting. Some that we skip could be done orally during play.
  14. The Facts and Games book is just short reading then a puzzle. I don't tink it could or should stand alone. It is nothing like The Complete Book of United States History. It does hit on the major events though.
  15. http://www.mhschool.com/reading/treasure_workbooks/national.html Grammar and Spelling are still here, as well as the on level workbooks.
  16. http://fms01.sd54.k12.il.us/treasures/default.htm Since all the great free things are vanishing lately, I would suggest downloading everything you might possibly use now before they go poof from here too. PS... the links from here are printable books, the old student texts link was unprintable.
  17. They are expensive, but super fun. If you watch eBay you can find new or like new kits for a fraction of the price. Same with their Which Way USA. I have gotten both sets that way for under $100 for all of them. I don't let my kids write in them, we use laminating pouches over the pages and sharpie markers so they are still useable for my youngest. PS shape erases with rubbing alcohol.
  18. http://www.abookintime.com/index.html I just stumbled on this the other day.
  19. Bookadventure.org! My kids LOVE it... it really encourages them to read because they can earn free prizes.
  20. In my relaxed homeschooling opinion, I would totally think they are plenty for logic stage if you added in some more interest based activities (a research report, a few posters, etc). My kids LOVE Mr. Q!
  21. Other sites to look at: http://www.watchknowlearn.org/ http://sqooltools.com/edvideos/index.html http://www.teachertube.com/ and of course youtube (as with anything online make sure you preview things if you are worried about exposure to things that may shock you/your kids) We do love Brainpop and Brainpopjr... they always have a few videos free, you can check them out. You can also see every video they have listed, you just have to be logged in to watch them (other than the current free videos).
  22. I third Home Art Studio. My very artsy 10yo DD even enjoys the younger levels (kinder included).
