  1. My son with special needs loves his laptop and pc games. His laptop crashed last weekend and we bought a refurbished one to replace it. I just went to reinstall Star Wars Republic Commandoes and realized the product key is on the case. WHICH I THRE OUT AGES AGO! I keep all the pc games in a binder with cd sleeves. What do I do now? Have I really lost access to all of his pc games???
  2. We bought a b grade refurbished Dell today from TechTurn. We can't see anything wrong with it, just the tiniest scratch on the outer casing. It was $115 after a 10% coupon, including shipping! I have a higher grade Dell from them that was $150. From now on though, we'll get B grades... http://store.techturn.com/
  3. I take prescribed Lovaza to have pharma grade fish oil, but it is also used to lower triglycerides. I also eat very low-fat, very low-carb. Mostly fish, chicken egg white and veggies. My triglycerides were in the 60's this past time!
  4. I have heard this is a well-loved tv series that suits your daughters interests... http://www.amazon.com/Slings-Arrows-Collection-Paul-Gross/dp/B000XUF6BU
  5. My two local library systems don't have either one. But I have an amazon gift card. I hoped someone could judge if I would love them based on my other keeper homeschool books! I am intrigued by the Colfax story, but the reviews say all the resources they mention are very out of date so...
  6. Are these must haves? My keeper homeschool books are WTM and WEM, Debra Bell's two, Andreola's Charlotte Mason and Educating the Wholehearted Child. I have sold everything else I have purchased and read over the years....
  7. That is so funny you remember and the smell too! - I completely forgot about it until today. I even had to google to see what it was called.
  8. My daughter and I went through my old 7th grade schoolwork today. We had the best time. All the worksheets and tests were in that thin purple ink paper. Some masters were typewritten and some were even handwritten, then copied. It was 1982 - pre photocopier. The teachers used ditto machines. Does anyone else remember?
  9. We ordered a refurb replacement laptop from Techturn for $115. I'm making a backup recovery disc first thing when it arrives. He was surprisingly ok with it all.
  10. It crashed last night... I'm running the recovery to factory settings from the partitioned harddrive bc it didn't come with a recovery disc. I pressed 0 to start the process. It gets 30% through and then an error. Now, what can I try! My son with autism will meltdown when he wakes up. Do we have to get a new laptop?
  11. We use K9, it is free but I don't know about slowing... http://www1.k9webprotection.com/
  12. Has anyone had success with this using Windows Xp? I have the microphone set for medium high. Confused!
  13. I'm still leaning towards Amazon. Just hoping to hear any reason not too, like the set isn't complete or something. I don't like Lego's customer service! My son has $50 Lego online giftcard and a $50 Lego store giftcard and they won't let him combine them - so ridiculous. I think I would have to buy a warranty from them anyway.
  14. He has a $50 giftcard for Lego online but the set is $50 less on Amazon! Any disadvantage to the set on Amazon? Everything he needs?
  15. Phew, okay... it is so good to hear that someone understands my side... This dynamic has been going on so long, I'm even getting confused.
  16. Please don't quote so I can delete after input. :001_smile:
  17. He's read those books, but I'm trying to find something that isn't a series and a faveorite of my same grade son.
  18. The Agony and Ecstacy by Irving Stone - I haven't read this one yet, but he has become my favorite historical fiction author..
  19. Special Needs 17yo son- light up music pat toy, music, and cuddly blanket Special needs 14yo son- pc games, transformers, action figures, music 10yo son- books, socks, music, books, SI kids, baseball bat, Mindstorms (though all grandparents are chipping in from last birthday and Christmas - some sent gift cards for online and some for the store! So, we can't use both sets of gift cards for this. My husband says son will get another Technic too!) 12yo daughter - ballet wish list from Discount Dance (elastic pointe shoe ribbons, shrug and thigh high leg warmers etc), lots of music, books, Pointe and Susie Magazines, jewelry making supplies and storage w/ giftcards to beading stores from grandparents, sterling silver hoops with interchangeable bead drops, still looking for cute excitement-inducing clothes! She would love a sherpa lined hoodie and toe socks...
  20. 11yo boy - Carry on Mr. Bowditch? 3yo girl-Frances? 2yo boy- Jessie Bear? 9monthsboy-touch book? Can you give me your picks? Would you get board books for 2 and 3yo too? It has been a while since I bought for these young ages! We are buying books for the $5 cousins gift exchanges. My children want to give what they remember were their favorites... But I want their cousins to like them! I'll include a gift receipt too. Thanks for any help!
  21. My 12 yod dances ballet pre-pro and is constantly working on foot strength and her arch. She has flat feet and pronates. She usually wears Birks, Chacos and whatever I can find locally with excellent arch support. Would you pass om the Ugg trend for her? Is there a better alternative?
  22. My now 12yod read the first two. She loved the concept, but felt the content was too old for her. She was about 9yo too. Hth.
