  2. Thanks for the kind words and replies. A couple responses to questions. Students with mental disabilities are entitled to public education until age 21 (bc of his bday cutoff he will actually go until 22). He will have to repeat grades at some point as he did in 5th grade already. We just had his iep and went over his test scores from many years past. Every year without fail, an earnest OT asks exactly I do with him at home. I should do daily handwriting and typing. Mentions reading practice. All the things they do not do in 8 hours of school time and I do daily. Very irritating. He replied in a nice email. I could go in to talk face to face - but he is the head basketball coach after school and I homeschool during school hours. After that email - there is nothing left to say anyway. Thanks again everyone!
  3. My now 15yo son with mr and autism loved (loves) Charlie and Lola. The books and tv show. He collects all of the books. We wrote Lauren Child on his behalf several years ago a fan letter and asked why she doesn't include their parents in her books. She wrote us a very nice letter back about how she wanted to focus her stories on the children as they grew up and so she didn't include their parents. She wrote some other nice things - he has that note saved in his scrapbook!
  4. I've been googling options. Would you recommend http://www.amazon.co...cs learning lab or http://www.radioshac...#stuff-you-want or something else? We have TONS of building sets and Mindstorms. We will start Arduino once he masters Mindstorms. I thought a more advanced electronics sets would be fun since he enjoys SnapCircuits. I just need a little help picking something out. Thanks!

  6. I love James Avery for her silver earrings etc. Thanks! But, I'm looking for more "cheesy" sterling silver charms like a needle/thread, rolling pin, ballet slippers - personalized charms for her interests. I need a store that sells lots of variety but still good quality. I'm not sure what I'm looking at with just googling. :)

  9. We found one online for $310 - without tax or shipping it was about the same deal as the Black Friday ads. I hope I made a good choice. Flash seems to not work on Android products anymore, but it doesn't work on Apple either so... I hope I can configure Hulu Plus and Netflix, otherwise should work!
  10. I saw it advertised for $299 at a lot of stores today. We had it in our cart but tried to buy and it was out of stock everywhere. Has anyone found a good price somewhere online today? Any strong advice against it? I like google products. Calendar, Picasa, gmail. I would just use it for internet, email, streaming shows etc. Thanks for any help.

  16. CLE LA has teacher's guides as well as answer keys to go along with their lightunits. They also have laminated reference charts that help with memorization of grammar rules. It also includes spelling and penmanship - though it says it includes writing, you will need to supplement that. Click on your grade "details" to see samples of the teacher's guide, answer key, and light units. http://www.clp.org/store/by_subject/3 I also love their handbook: http://www.clp.org/product/cle_english_handbook_767 Reference charts: Grade 3 & 4 http://www.clp.org/product/language_arts_reference_chart_grades_3_4_2194 Grade 5 & 6 http://www.clp.org/product/language_arts_reference_chart_grades_5_6_2197 Grade 7 & 8 http://www.clp.org/product/language_arts_reference_chart_grades_7_8_2200 They also have grammar lu for English 1 & 2 for 9th grade. We are continuing on. We love CLE!
  17. Sorry everyone and thanks for answering. I tried to delete my post but the board froze. She had just done several problems in a row where she divided by a negative number and switched around the greater than to less than signs. So, when she divided the positive number she switched the signs and I didn't catch that she didn't actually need to bc it was positive until right after I posted... :001_huh:

However, when invited over or to parties it was always together. edited: I just saw how long the thread was and my experience may not be how you want to handle it. But, that is how it was for me, I'm not really saying it was right or wrong... My mom probably would have done what the neighbor did though...
