  1. @Corraleno Me too? I have spider veins on one side of my face and am trying to be better about skin care now that I am in my fifties. I've heard that Korean skin care products are often superior, so I'm curious about this product.
  2. So yeah, bonuses for some and not for others is ridiculous.
  3. I haven't read the thread. My perspective is simple and to the point: Everyone who works at any job anywhere for 40-60 hours a week should be able to pay for housing, food, and health care. And everyone who works should be eligible for regular recognition of achievement in the form of bonuses, pay raises, and access to opportunities to move up the ladder. (Access meaning opportunity to apply with any other qualified candidates.)
  4. Beautiful. Thank you for sharing. Warm hugs.
  5. Great British Baking Show The Great Canadian Bake-Off is even kinder and sweeter. Nanny McPhee Mary Poppins Secondhand Lions My Family and Other Animals—the PBS movie, not the horrid TV series Anne of Green Gables starring Megan Follows
  6. I went to the gym this morning and had a good workout--a little knee stuff and a lotta arm stuff. I will need to do more knee stuff and some recumbent bike later at home.
  7. Just another, gentle perspective to consider. Knowing nothing about you or your kid or the other kid and their family--this is just general to think about, and perhaps it may apply or it may not. I taught my kids to welcome friendships even when it's not a perfect meeting of the minds, and I taught them to consider that not all friends are equal or the same "flavor." I have found that I have never regretted extending kindness and friendship, and often I've been surprised by another person's kindness to me or hidden depths of personality. Obviously if someone is a bully or mean-on-purpose, that's not someone we want to be friends with. But if someone is reaching out and there's nothing specifically wrong with that person--they're just not the perfect match or there's not a perfect meeting of the minds--then consider being friends, but don't feel the need to be *best* friends. Interactions don't have to be long or elaborate. In your shoes, that's a conversation I would have with my kid. Not to *force* interaction. Rather, to ask my kid to walk in another person's shoes. To think about how it feels to reach out in a friendly way and to be given the cold shoulder. To think about what level of interaction feels okay versus what level is too much (because not everyone gets "best friend" privileges). Often we might find that we don't mind a little friendship but don't want to be bamboozled into being best friends.
  8. I really like spiralized squash "noodles." You can often find them in the freezer section.
  9. Praying. Keep us posted.
  10. I went to the gym yesterday and worked pretty hard. Today I had PT in the morning for my knee and then gyrotonics this afternoon. The instructor gave a little extra time today because she didn’t have any classes afterward. With arthritis riddling my spine and other joints I am so grateful for the way this particular exercise moves the spine in so many ways. There’s also a constant emphasis on core strength that I find really helpful.
  11. Date of installation is irrelevant because companies were allowed to use existing stock for literally decades after the legislation took effect.
  12. This. I know more than I ever wanted to because I have dealt with two houses with significant asbestos issues. Also seal off the workspace so that the dust doesn’t spread throughout the house. Do this with tape and plastic tarp. Be thorough. As you work spray the air periodically with water to encourage the dust to settle. Double bag the debris and seal with duck tape. Wash every square inch of the room and everything in it using wet paper towels. A little dish soap is a good idea—it “catches” the particles more effectively. Fold each paper towel in quarters. As you wipe, it’s one swipe per side. Each paper towel therefore yields 8 swipes. (If you rub you just spread the dust.) again, double bag debris and seal with duck tape. There is no such thing as too much caution in your handling of asbestos.
  13. I went to the gym this morning and had a solid workout. I want to fit in one more session later this afternoon or tonight for specific PT exercises. I also want to force myself to hang on the teeter board.
  14. You go, girl! Weight training has been one of the most empowering things I've ever done. It has been a game changer for me in balance, strength, mobility, and pain management. It will definitely have a positive effect for concerns with osteoporosis--good for you for seizing that bull by the horns.
  15. Do you have access to a teeter board? It’s a game changer for my back issues. The tilted-upside-down stretch really helps. I hope you find relief one way or another.
  16. If you feel that this church is important for your kids, then your only other option is to go up the chain and make sure all the priests are well aware of the actual physical danger that you and the kids suffer if your husband's spying behavior is indulged. It may not stop them, but on the other hand, it might open their eyes. FWIW a friend of mine had a similar issue. In her case, her husband abused their daughters and is now serving a prison sentence for what he did. Someone at the church was sending pictures and updates to the husband in prison. In that case, the girls started attending a different campus of that church (they got a ride from friends), and my friend stopped going to church altogether (for more reasons than just the spying).
  17. Such days do happen. Nobody’s record is perfect. It will feel good to engage with some exercise today. ☺️
  18. Yes! I ordered a ten-pack yesterday. I always appreciate this board!
  19. PT this morning. Gyrotonics this afternoon—we did some more unusual things mixed in with some beloved regulars. Nice to shake it up a bit. I always feel so much better afterwards.
  20. I could totally do this.
  21. I keep reading recommendations to use only NASA-approved eclipse glasses, but I am having trouble sifting through to figure out which glasses are actually really and truly SAFE and NASA-worthy. I want to put eclipse glasses in everyone's Easter baskets. I am a literature and writing kind of person, not so much a sciencey person. Help. Links? Testimonies? Expert guidance? Thanks from the bottom of my heart.
  22. I have dear friends from where we lived before. In my current home, I have friendly acquaintances, even after ten years here. I would say that some groups and cultures are friendlier than others.
