  1. Another vote for Plan To Eat here. It makes it easy to plan meals, find my recipes, make shopping lists, etc. I can even see everything on my IPhone. See the link under my signature to check it out.
  2. Come down to Florida and swim with the manatees in Crystal River. This is an awesome experience and it's the perfect season for it. There are lots of manatees gathered in the springs where it's 72 degrees year round. Then you can spend the rest of the time on the beach. Best of both worlds.
  3. I agree! I love natural stones and patterns. Quartz/Silestone has none of that. To me, that just looks all the same for the same price as granite. We can't afford granite in the kitchen, but we were able to find a remnant we could afford for the master bathroom and I love it. I never tire of looking at it. For the kitchen we used a Wilsonart HD formica and we are very happy with it. It's beautiful and it was much less expensive. I'm very happy with that choice as well. BUT your question did not involve cost restraints.... so I choose granite.
  4. To go with his wonderful temperament, he is SO CUTE!!!!!! Can I hold him?
  5. I would also vote for the American Eskimo. Ours is the sweetest, cutest dog and no problems at all. She's probably also the easiest dog we've ever had. She's smart, does all kinds of tricks and she just loves her family. Hope you post pictures, whatever you decide!
  6. No, it leaves nothing. Cinnamon rolls and/or sticky buns are very important. Ok, I'm editing. I read some of the other ideas and I have decided we could have a progressive breakfast on Christmas morning. Whose house shall we go to first?
  7. You just have to hope these aren't people that we will read about in the newspaper someday. It reminds me of the woman who drowned her kids (I hate to say that, but it's that kind of weird). I can't imagine how God himself feels when people misconstrue everything about Him.
  8. OK.... I know I'm way late for Thanksgiving, but I had to share this amazing bread!!! It's different and REALLY good... http://www.plantoeat.com/recipes/112517
  9. I had to go back and look at the site to see what mine looks like. I think it's Deepstar Bronze. Not sure about undermounts. We didn't try that. We got a stainless sink online. It looks nice with the counters.
  10. I'm not sure because we already had someone doing that. We didn't try to have HD do it. We still love our counters though!
  11. I got the Toshiba laptop from Office Depot this morning, an electric razor for ds 15 from Walmart (also this morning) and 2 pairs of American Eagle Jeans at 40% off. I was so very grateful that I didn't need to stand in line at Office Depot to get the same deal!
  12. Yes, if the crackers are on top. Do everything but the crackers and add them before baking tomorrow. If you're trying to save on oven space I had a great broc/cheese casserole that goes in the crockpot... http://www.plantoeat.com/recipes/105367
  13. This was a video in which he concludes that the Ipad is best for homeschool (if you can afford it) vs ereaders. In the end he shows some ways he uses it for homeschool.
  14. I had thought of pumpkin muffins, but my daughter-in-law just got a Baby Cakes Donut Maker so it may be pumpkin donuts now. :)
  15. I am getting ds 15 a laptop for Christmas. All of his classes are online this year and we are down to one Macbook that is really mine. I've decided it's not just cheaper to get a PC, but that it's been so long since we've had one that I think it would be good for him to get used to using one in case he would need to do so in the workplace someday. He will be on the internet, using Office, maybe taking a computer class through Landry in a year or so, using it with his video camera (or he can use the Imovie on the Mac). It's been a LONG time since I've had a PC and I feel like I don't even know what I'm looking at, even after research. We are trying to stay under $400 and this is what I've found.... Radio Shack has this 15.6" Intel® Pentium® Processor B950 Toshiba for $349 this week.... http://us.toshiba.com/computers/laptops/satellite/L750/L755-S5350/ Best Buy ran out of their special deal but not before I spend an hour on the phone with them. In lieu of the other deal, they are offering me a $379 price of this Toshiba 14" Intel® Core™ i3-2310M. http://us.toshiba.com/computers/laptops/satellite/L740/L745-S4210/ or (and this would be a stand in line and get lucky thing) Office Depot has a few 15.6" Intel Core 1-3 for $399 Friday morning http://www.2011blackfridayads.com/officedepot/ Thanks for any help or advice you might have!
  16. Amazing experience from the initial state class to the alumni events. I highly recommend!
  17. So very sorry, Teresa! My prayers are with you. :grouphug:
  18. VERY good for us! Ds has had excellent teachers. He's had 6 classes in a variety of subjects. It has been a huge blessing and a great fit for us. Register as far ahead as possible for the best prices.
  19. I think you really hit the nail on the head with your musings, at least in my experience. Ds 20 did very well with dual enrollment, graduated with 36 credits in even won the cc writing contest while still in high school. His 4 year school was a completely different story for him. Not only were the courses much harder, but he was at a whole different level because he came in as a 2nd year student. The following year it was almost worse... junior level courses took it up another notch and he was only 18. He really struggled with figuring out the changing expectations compared to his dual enrollment experience. I have one more in high school now and I am having the very same thoughts that you are. I can't figure out whether to hold back completely or to do a few classes. Whatever we decide, I don't think it will be the 36 credits.
  20. I LOVE Teenpact. My kids have had many awesome experiences through them and I highly recommend them as well. When I talk about it sometimes, people tell me that they aren't into politics. You don't have to be. BUT... every high schooler has to take government and there is NO better way to do it. I can't imagine anyone being disappointed with anything they have to offer.
