  1. we were going to do a 6 weeks on. 3 weeks off schedule with new year in sept. Dd has friends in ps so we have gone back to that but I'd rather do year round.
  2. We are? CzUsing I can do all things for art next year. I will have to look at coh free stuff that angelmama mentioned.
  3. We used bju this year. Good program. It hs a daily review of some words and adds new words. Lots of commentsprehension questions and work sheets reinforce the story line and phonics skills.
  4. a beka makes.art.books with pages u pull and they have directions. Fairly simple and my dd has liked it. Its not just drawing though there is a varie ty of soptuff.
  5. Aas is great but $ at $40 for a level. We are using spelli.g power next year. It's 1 spelling book for all levels from8 years old to adult. And like aas it is mastery. The student practices words til they.spell it right.lessons take 15 minutes. Aas is great thohgh it makes sure they have the sounds down then teaches to segment words into individualxe sounds. My.daughter was awful at spelling and traditional programs did nothing for her. Hence the switch to aas. It's helping so far! We are stuck on the blends right now bc of her speech issues but we are getting there. I've heard the r&s spelling is good. If you already have it I'd try it and then try aas if that doesn't work for you.
  6. My oldest loves anythin arts amd crafts! Always has ever since she was little. I do think people are givwn ot as a.gift. some people are good speakers, cooks, musicians etc. Art is the same. My sister used to love art.as a kid amd has recently started her own line of purses witth her bff (leo luca) . Me on the other hand, lol I like crafty stuff but I'm one that needs directions. I do use curriculum for art for my oldest but I also let her create? Land explore oon her own. Crayons, markers, paper, scissors, glue are readily accessible. We also have an art easel for paint and I don't get it out as much as I should. I thinks kids should be able to create without fear of doing it "wrong ".
  7. I'm going to do the same with my younger two. Haven't start deciding which ones yet though. I help them figure out where stuff fits and such but I will let them choose. Will probably put them together at the end of each unit.zw
  8. We are doing adventures next year and quite excited! I love that it's all laid out for me and very hands on. It's. Easy to let the younger two tag along if tyey want and eventually can have them all on the same core program.
  9. This year we have taken pages out each week for each subject. It's easier for her to know what page to do. We will only have a math book next year and she has required to keep pages in it this time so I guess we will. This year I hole punch and put them in binders.
  10. Right now its weeky. I pull worksheets.for the week and check for supplies I need on Sunday. For next year I'm working on planning the whole year. We are using mfw so most is ready to go. I will print math stuff for the year all at once. As. The year goes on I check our progress with where we are time wise.
  11. Wp equine science sounds fun! Will have to do that with Mr oldest but probably when she is 5th or 6th unlesd things change.
  12. Dd1 third grade Mfw adventures Bju math 3 Spelling power Pll Scholastic cursive practice I can do all things (art) Ds &dd2 R&s workbooks Lapbooking Lots of play!
  13. We havea schedule to our day. We start?at 9 and are done by 1. We do Bible, reading math, english, spelling 5 days. I really have to be on my dd to be on task or she.would be schooling all day! She is not an independent worker which can be frustrating.
  14. Bju? Mastery with workbook, great TM and plenty of review. .
  15. If he is done just stop and pick up the next day. If it was a Friday I often start it over on Monday. For daily review it is just the cards not mastered yet. There will be a bigger review in step 10 or 11 I think. Some steps are 1day for us. Others like right now on step 13 we may be here all week. It is a mastery idea. Once they get it you move on to the next step. Hth!
  16. Ours has a homeschool section(small but growing slowly ) it's nice to see samples of some popular curriculum plus several resource books. The coolest thing by far is their homeschool kits! You fill out a form with what topic you are studying and when. Children's librarian pulls tons of books, movies, online resources, pretty much anything you might findd useful. They have huge bags on wheels to haul it home. Hey give you a call hen it's ready. So cool! I gpt one for our co-op.this spring and was extremely happy to have it all there for me. Hsers can also get educator card so checkout tine is 6weeks instead of 3. You have to have some kind of proof that you hs like approval letter etc.

  19. We are using a different spelling program next year due to the high price tag of aas. Hoping to implement the tiles to practice tbe words as needed.
  20. Etc is honics...haven't used it but heard great things about it. What you have looks good. Only thing missing is maybe art/ music?
  21. I agree that it's both. Its mastery in that they cover one topic in each chapter.it's spiral in that there is daily review plus a cumulative review at the end of each chapter. Haven't used tt so I can't help there.
  22. I can't imagine using just the workbook! There's no way it would work that way!
