  1. Wegot the suggestes pll for third grade next year. We have started using it now since the second half is suggested for thied. I really like it so far. It covers grammar, poetry and more but in a quick and gentle manner. We are coming from a workbook method so it's a nice chamge of pace.
  2. I think youd be fine doing adventures with them both. It would male things simpler fir you and you are using a different la so they would be reading at their own level for that
  3. Thanks ladies! I will try both of those ideas! She did fine with the other segmenting exercises so I think that's why she got frustrated so easily with this. We may be on step 13 for a bit longer than the others we've gone through. I knew we'd eventually get to a road block.
  4. We got to step 13 today where they are segmenting words with final blends. We tried the tokens. She had a hard time so we tried the little game suggested in the book. Still no help. I think part of the issue is because of her speech issues. I just need some tips/ ideas to help her hear the sounds and be able to segment them. Tia for the help!
  5. My ds will be jumping in during rtr and I'm ok with it because they have a supplement for younger grades and he will eventually get to do ecc and ctg. Yep I'm in Ohio, but closer to Cleveland. Cincinnati is a good 3/4 hours from us. Ohio hs laws are pretty simple to follow which is nice.
  6. We use bju. The tm is set up to be very user friendly and we really like it.
  7. Looks good! When we started it freaked me out a bit too and I almost wanted to send her back to ps. After I got over that initial fear of the big lifestyle change we have loved hsing.what you have looks great! I'm sure you'll enjoy it once you find your groove.
  8. Right now I have things stored in several places..workbooks and other fhings in my closet, TM I use regularly and craft supplies are in the cupboard above the syove and dd's folders and books and manipulatives are in a Rubbermaid three drawer thing. I reallly want to get a bookshelf to keep everything in one place especially since we are moving to a curriculum of real books instead of workbooks. The drawers work but dd has to dig thro things to find what she needs.
  9. We love bju math! The story lines/characters make it fun. It uses lots of maanipulatives whhich my daughter needs. There is plenty of review and extra if needed. Tm is very well laid out and easy to follow. We tried Saxon last year and my daughter hated math by the end of the year. This year she likes math although it's still not her strength. We are staying with bju for third.
  10. Mfw lets you pick books for independent reading. So whatever level sje ois at you can get library books to match it. It is a gentler approach from what I've heard. You can further investigate things they are interested in too though. As far s where to start? It depends. You could do adventures amd first next year and then just start them in the 5 year cycle with ecc the next year. Or do ecc with coldest next year and let the younger join the cycle the next year with ctg. Adventures is meant for second or third so if your oldest is advanced you may want to go to ecc next year.
  11. We are using mfw next year,. You could combine them still and maybe try apologoa to combine them for science.
  12. I agree. We have limited $ ans space so most things from this year will go when we finds is 4 year's yyounger than my oldest so we have sveral years before he qould need them anyway.
  13. We are switching to spelling power because of the $ issue with aas. If we have issues with it I woll find a way to get Aas.
  14. If she's in 2nd mfw suggestion is adventures but if she is doing something similar I can see why you'd want to skip adv. I would start with ecc. I've heard great things bout it!
  15. Tried t4l fun supplement Using bju.great program for independent workers and if you like work book frmat.
  16. Spelling power starts with words they don't know. Like others said though if she spells fine just practice some words elsewhere in your day or do latin.
  17. My dd has spelling issues. Weare using aas this year and it's helping. Trying spelling power next year. Hoping it works. Maybe it would be a good fit for your dd?
  18. I believe for ecc for jr high they have more advamced options amd a supplement pack so it wouldn't be exactly the same. My younger two will end up going through some of the programs a second time when they are in jr high. So any way, id just keep going with the cycle instead of using something yoy will have to supplement a lot for.
  19. This year we had one folder for each subject. I pull the worksheets for each week and refill the folders. I have a binder to put finished work in that I pull each week. Probably just getting a binder for dd next year with dividers.
  20. We use bju math but definitely not secular. It has review daily and an extra review pages book for kids that need more help. Hmm maybe. Just find something to use to supplement the sm?
  21. Discovering great artists has a variety of artists and projects to go along with it.
  22. I'm a lefty and do things "backward" but not letters although my handwriting is awful. I did have a hard time tying shoes and such. I can't help much for you but some of what she does I get..
