  1. We do science twice a week at home and once with his Co-op group.
  2. Never saw it before. Thanks for sharing this link.
  3. We are finishing next week. We have done with standardized tests, :hurray: :hurray: :hurray: so next few days should be easy. I plan to do some activities (arts and crafts, reading and math) during the summer, and some camps for DS so I can get a break. He's done so much this year. I am very proud of him. I know when two cups of coffee in the morning are not enough to get me moving it is time for a break.
  4. I will try to get my dear husband in the mood to make one using video I posted in first post. For the beginning we can use TV in our living room. If we ever have an extra money I would love to have TV in our school room. So far... I can dream... My mom always says: "Dreams are free." :)
  5. That is my hope. :) He loves everything about technology.
  6. I have been thinking about adding some new things in our school for next school year. A smart board is one of them. Oooo nooooo....we are not rich and a real smart board will stay a dream for us. I found a video that shows how to make a smart board at home for about 50 dollars. I know that education is more than smart boards, computers, iPads.... but I would love to give my son an opportunity to try it. I also think that a smart board could help him to gain an interest in school and subjects he does not like. What do you think about it?
  7. I can not download Student Unit 7. Did you have any problems?
  8. We do Math-U-see four days a week (Monday -Thursday), and LOF on Friday. Our Friday math is officially called Friday Math Fun (FMF). My son loves the way we do it this year, and he wants same thing for the next school year.
  9. Thank you all for your answers. I'll check all your sugestions and see what would work for us. For those who test kids at home - What do I need to become qualified tester?
  10. I live in GA, and I do not need to test my DS (who is 1st grade) at the end of the school year. However, I would like to do it just to be sure we are doing right. My question is - Can I test him at home? Is there any test that I can buy, do test, ans send it somewhere to be scored?

  17. I am new on this forum and this is my first post here. I need advice about my son. He is almost six years old, and I think he has some problems with his speech. Three years ago he was on speech therapy (for about six months) with private speech therapist. After six months she tested him, and told us that her job with our son is done. In her opinion his speech was fine. Before therapy he could not say nine sounds and all English blends. Instead of fish he would say sish, fox was tox.... Today, he can say all sounds and blends. He is reading very well for his age (kindergarten). He l-o-v-e-s to talk, but nobody understands him well except of me. I am concerned about how he speaks. He is bilingual, and the same thing is happening in both languages. For example, he will say: " I have a big. " What he really wants to say is: " I have a big blue ball. " He always says only half of sentence. He is a very smart, and very, very active child. How to help him? Have you ever heard anything like this? Is he lazy to talk, or there is a real problem here? Thank you in advance.
