  1. Have you considered looking for an Airbnb listing that might fit the bill? It seems like a pool party in a yard might be funner than in a hotel. :) I own an Airbnb listing and could see something like that, if my other renters were agreeable. I have the city swimming pool across the street from the house -- ha, maybe I should promote it that way. ;-) You can search by location and then also choose some amenities and I think a swimming pool might be one of the choices.
  2. You have an open invitation to come have a cup of ________ and a plate of ________ on it with me, friend! You choose what goes in the blanks when you tell me you're coming. :)
  3. My first Joss & Main (which is a sister company to Wayfair) arrives on Monday! This one. Hopefully all goes well and that I love it. Now I have to pick out some chairs that I like to go with it.
  4. Pop onto the ferry over to Bainbridge Island or even the little one to west Seattle. You can walk on and just explore around the ferry landing a little bit. Then back over. Being on the water does it for me. Go to a Mariner game -- I just checked and they're playing the A's that weekend. If you're coming from a smaller town and that's what concerns your daughter, we have our big annual county fair that weekend -- two hours east on I-90. It's a smaller college town with a great vibe and we'll be hopping those few days. Hit up the park at Green Lake. Does she like zoos? Woodland Park Zoo. Or aquariums? Seattle Aquarium on the waterfront (walkable from the market). If you go to the market, make sure to see the gum wall just outside to the south (gross but makes kids laugh).
  5. I just have a Word doc that I update when needed (everything is listed in alphabetical order) and I keep it on a thumb drive instead of my computer. Works for me.
  6. Oh, this makes my heart hurt for you. I'm so sorry! It's nice that your kids are so great with it, but I can imagine pretty well how you must feel. I'm not trying to make you feel worse! I'm wanting to feel WITH you and commiserate with you. Ugh, I'm sorry.
  7. Our campground was about two miles off the beach, up a hill. When I woke up this morning, early, I drove down to the local beach and then north about 10 miles to that beach and saw that both were socked in about an hour out, so I decided to stay at the campground. Glad we did, had a perfect view and it was fun to share it with the people around us in the campground. Some people had cool experiments going on and people were just walking around and taking a look at those, too. It's now three hours later, and we are at the beach. It's still foggy! Made the right call.
  8. You don't necessarily have to brave crowds. We chose one area this weekend knowing most people in this three-state region were choosing another. If you get a cabin at a private campground, then the crowds are limited. We did that, too.
  9. Maybe we'll come, Debbie! After seeing totality today, I would love to see another one. Would love to meet you, too.
  10. It was AMAZING!! So glad we made the trip. Never seen anything like it and probably never will again. It's seared into my memory.
  11. I know someone who uses it every time she flies from Washington state to Arizona. She's an older woman who prefers comfort and she apparently finds it quite doable.
  12. Folks, that was AWESOME! The sun disappeared and we saw the huge corona with our glasses off for a good minute and a half. Tried to look at stars but just wanted to see the sun (I see stars every night!). Tthen the diamond started to peek out, got bigger and then we put the glasses on. Totality rocks! So worth the trip. So, so glad we came.
  13. We're on the coast in the path of totality in Oregon -- it's started! Can't believe how excited I am.
  14. I'm sitting on the coast of Oregon, waiting to post "First!" somewhere! Just kidding. I liked Carol's answer, though, LOL. One more hour.
  15. I'm with KrissiK -- anywhere there's an ocean! We live in central Washington state and are getting to know and love the Oregon coast (are there right now for eclipse viewing, as a matter of fact). It's a 5-6 hour drive one way but to us, worth it. My husband and I are going to half an hour south of Portland Maine for our anniversary trip next month -- because, ocean!
  16. My parent snowbird out in Surprise, northwest of Phoenix (well, actually, they sold their house up here and are full-timers now). Lovely area for Phoenix (psst I don't love Phoenix). Does he like pickleball? LOL. That's big in that area.
  17. Thanks for the tips and product ideas, everyone!!
  18. We just purchased a house with a whole-house soft water filter system on it and I can't stand the way it makes my hair feel (TOO soft). And I've used the deva curly girl method but it's not seeming to work as well with this type of water. My hair seems frizzier rather than curly. I won't be able to talk my husband into removing the soft water filter, so am wondering if you have found any tips/tricks for dealing with soft water when it comes to hair -- specifically curly hair. Thank you! #firstworldproblem
  19. I asked our ever-so-awesome eye doctor (Dr. Sarah), who voiced concern in a FB group about people saying they were go get "risk it" and not use the glasses, "Are the glasses providing enough protection if they ARE used?" and she said "Yes, with the glasses, you will be fine."
  20. This does make sense, that increasing the usable "alphabet" by adding in the special characters and numbers increases the strength of the password. But when using a mix of the letters, numbers and special characters came to be required, it made it seem as if that mix was the key to a strong password, not the length of the password. So glad to be learning that it's the length that's key, not the mix of characters.
  21. Then you have to remember which one goes with which question, thus (partially) defeating the purpose. And usually answers have to be a minimum of four letters so it would have to be gobb, lede and gook. 😄
  22. I'm having fun coming up with the string of words, LOL. Don't worry, I won't use either of the examples posted here as a future password. :)
  23. Hopefully this news will start to filter into company website departments and we'll see changes over time. I'd much rather try and remember monkeymuffiincaliforniatrain than what I've had to do with my system. The system certainly made things easier for me, but sometimes my system doesn't work, for example when a website won't allow certain special characters. Then I have to remember how I changed that one password when I visit that site.
