  1. Bleach is what kills stomach bugs. So I recommend cleaning surfaces with a bleach solution and lots of hand washing.
  2. This year for Sunday school teacher gifts my kids put together packets of mulling spices. Cinnamon stick, a few whole cloves and allspice balls, and a dried lemon slice. They ended up being very economical and their teachers really loved them.
  3. My kids have enjoyed their Spangler Science subscription. I think you can buy them individually.
  4. I recommend a ring sling!
  5. I kept getting colds. At the recommendation of my doctor I started doing Flonase daily and life has been SO much better.
  6. Thank you for pointing me in the right direction!
  7. Of course the title would say leggage instead of luggage. 🙄 And I can't figure out how to edit it on my phone. ETA: figured it out!
  8. I'd like to get my parents new suitcases for Christmas. Their old ones are soft sided and are falling apart after over a decade of use. I'd love recommendations for brands to look for. Other tips as well? Thanks!
  9. We got one at Christmas last year and have three kids who aren't super hard on their things. It's very sturdy and we've been very happy with it. My kids go through spurts of using it, but whenever their friends come over everyone is fighting over it. It's been lots of fun!
  10. If you have an awesome aquarium then I think you can skip Birch. Maybe check out some tide pools instead? We are SD Zoo members and have never paid for a special safari. The Africa tram is included with admission I believe and is fun.
  11. The search function isn't helping me at all. I was trying to save that recent thread with all the (mostly consumable) stocking stuffer ideas but it's disappeared on me. Can anybody help me out?
  12. Girl of the Limberlost and others by that author I like similar books and enjoy reading a chapter of James Herriot each night.
  13. We've been able to get by with a six quart for our family of seven, but I am upgrading to the 8. If I had a family of 2-4 I would get the 6 qt and use it for a while before deciding if I wanted the bigger one. I've been very happy with my 6 qt but wanted to be able to make enough to have leftovers.
  14. This is very interesting. I had an eye exam two weeks ago and ordered new glasses there, most of which insurance covered. But I need new sunglasses. DH had said that Zenni didn't have good quality glasses but maybe I'll give them a try.
  15. I personally would continue to call them whatever grade they a e based on their birthdays, and then just work with them wherever they are at. Focus on math and language arts. If they're quick learners you could accelerate where you can, otherwise just keep moving forward!
  16. I'd like to introduce my daughter to Anne as a Christmas gift this year. I'm looking for a lovely hardcover edition to give her. Anyone have recommendations? Bonus points for beautiful illustrations!!
  17. Emesis bags are a life saver for us. No bowls or toilet to clean. Wash hands, isolate the sick one, keep the laundry going, and clean surfaces with bleach. Clorox sells bleach wipes on Amazon.
  18. Could he try a nasal/sinus wash in the meantime? Like a neti pot of the neilmed bottle.
  19. Yes, she'll have glasses!! I just forgot since w don't have them yet. The wig I bought her is this one... MapofBeauty 14"/35cm Charm Synthetic Curly Hair Wig (Black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00C2077GG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_SEQ7zbBZ81FZA It doesn't really look like the product images, but if you look at photos from the reviews you'll get a better idea of what it looks like.
  20. I totally agree! But I'd really like some opinions on DD's particular costume for this year. Is it offensive for her to dress as Katherine Johnson?
  21. So is DD's vintage dress, NASA badge, and a black wig a bad idea? The badge has Katherine Johnson's name and photo.
  22. The article was saying specifically that white kids should not dress as minorities. So it wasn't about girls of other ethnicities dressing as Elsa.
  23. Someone linked on Facebook a Cosmo article about non-Polynesian girls dressing up like Moana for Halloween, saying that doing so is racist and insensitive. Is this true?? What do you think? For the record, my daughter is going to dress up as Katherine Johnson. This is a person she has learned about and admires. Could this really be a problem?!
