  1. Are you short waisted? I am, even though my torso is average length for my height. It sure doesn't help the pant fitting issue-I have no waist! Consider something like the Jag Jean that is pull on but doesn't look like your grandmother's elastic waist pants. http://www.jagjeans.com/
  2. I have had a recent flare of reflux, and more than a few sips of water definitely is a trigger for me too. I am not on a PPI or any meds. I have read extensively about the issues with PPI's in an effort to help my mother get off them. Her PCP is less than helpful and just wants her to stay on them for the rest of her life!!! Without checking for Mg, Fe or B12 deficiency! Drives me nuts. I have added Betaine HCl and given up coffee and those changes seem to help.
  3. I would switch jean styles before I messed with my weight. When I gain or lose, my proportions stay relatively constant. Except over the years I am getting increasing apple shaped. Any pants that can be buttoned at the waist are going to be baggy in the hips and thighs. Any that fit through the hips I won't be able to close at the waist. So weight loss or gain doesn't change the problem, the tightness/bagginess just happens in a different size. Have you identified where the fit issues are in your jeans? Waist? Hips? Overall?
  4. If you have the storage space, then yes! get a roaster. Other things they are good for: Mac and cheese for 75, sloppy joes or chili for 50, turkey or chicken stock.
  5. Get a Rx for 10 mg as a half dose. Not available OTC. Someone posted a 6 week taper schedule awhile back that started with a half dose every other day, keeping a full dose the other days. Use alternate acid reducers as needed during the step down phase.
  6. Ds is admitted to UGA, his only application. We had wanted him to live at home for a year or two and attend the local U in order to save $ as dh is quickly coming up on retirement. But now he wants to attend UGA next year as a freshman. Arghh
  7. Yes, a whole week off. And yes, the university has an attendance policy for students that requires 90% attendance. Is that common? The three universities I attended back in the dark ages (70's and 80's) did not have attendance requirements for the whole university. Of course individual profs could institute their own.
  8. Thank you for sharing that! My oldest just turned twenty, so doesn't count as a teen anymore, and I agree wholeheartedly with the sentiment. My two are in very different places and on very different paths, yet are both people I enjoy very much.
  9. I have a number of the Chambury Casa cotton tablecloths. Nice weight. They do need. Ironing. http://www.tableclothsfactory.com/v/quicksearch.html?Search=Chambury+Casa
  10. I'm waiting for someone to show up with a dish made from 3 parts energy, 2 parts stress reducer, 1 magic wand (for making anything that I forgot magically appear) and as much good humor as it can hold lol.
  11. I would not do shifts. I can't see how it wouldn't be awkward. We have our own seating issue, at least in my mind. Dining room table seats 8 and kitchen table seats up to 6. We generally have 11, so need to use both tables. There is no way to make the kitchen people feel like the cool kids in the dining room. Last year I ate in the kitchen and that made me feel better lol. In your case I would try my best to make seating for all at the same time. The only exception would be if you are quite casual and don't have a sit down expectation.
  12. As the mother of a daughter who has Type 1 diabetes, I am so grateful for the development of insulin therapy. Without it, she would not be alive today. Today's Google doodle celebrates Dr. Banting, the first to use insulin therapy on humans.
  13. Hang on. Through the darkest night, know that there are many many people that value and love you. Make it breath to breath if you have to. BTDT
  14. Yes, his other two classes met. Ds says instructor sent word she had a migraine.
  15. Welcome, Janemax. Do you homeschool your children?
  16. Thank you. Now that you mention it, she may have referred the students to some videos during the vacation. I will have to ask ds.
  17. You're right. I will call. Have you ever known a prof to schedule a vacation during a term? Like an out of state ski trip?
  18. Thanks for your input. I will consider calling. I just don't remember professors' attendance ever being an issue, particularly in a math class where consistent instruction time is so critical. Sure, an illness here and there, or a professional conference once in a while, but nothing like this.
  19. Non ammonia window cleaner. I bought a gallon of concentrate from a janitor supply place and use a very little in distilled water. Quick Shine Hardwood floor product from Holloway House for occasional use if you like a shiny look. Wears well. Haven't tried to remove it, so can't tell you about build up.
  20. Thanks for the sympathy:) Ds doesn't think the instructor explains the material very well and makes frequent errors. Overall, not impressed. He actually had Precalc at the high school last year with an uninspiring teacher who didn't cover the topics in much depth, so we opted to have him take it again at the college and does feel he is getting a bit more depth this time around. He says there are many students in the class that aren't doing very well, but I know that is common for math classes at a university not known for technical degrees. I bought the Art of Problem Solving Precalc book hoping he would take it upon himself to deepen his understanding, but I guess that is asking a bit much from a kid who is taking three DE classes, two AP classes, and also plays football.
  21. Ds is dual enrolled in Precalc at the local 4yr university. He just texted me that his class was cancelled with no notice. This is an 8:00 class for which he leaves the house at 7:15. I get that illness and emergencies come up, but this is the fifth! class that the instructor has missed so far this semester. Two of those days were a planned vacation trip. I find this completely unacceptable, especially for a math class! This is just a rant. Nothing will be done about it. Ds is doing very well in the class, just mad. **Update** Class canceled again today for the reason, stated by instructor, that she doesn't want to come in the day before Thanksgiving break. As of now, there is no email to students with video link. Ds doesn't remember if she talked about a video or not. I talked to ds before this latest cancelation about reporting the situation himself, even though I had decided to do it, but reconsidered because this is college. He was unwilling to do so because 1, he didn't care that much about loss of instruction time since this is essentially a repeat class, and 2, he hadn't kept track of which days were missed and felt it would be a weak argument without the dates to back him up. After this latest, I will strongly encourage him to talk with other students and see if they as a group will report. The overwhelming majority of students are regular college students. He knows of only himself and one other that are DE.

  23. I saw the GP model work well when I was growing up. My parents had the same family doctor for 2 decades. He knew them quite well. Now, not so much. For me, I went about 20 years without a routine physical, seeing my OBGYN yearly and a handful of docs along the way for a specific issue or two. When I finally decided (in my mid 40s) to get in for a physical with the doctor that my dh was seeing, he told me to come back in 5 years for my next exam lol. Not exactly a relationship building experience. I am an eminently forgettable person. Even my OB/GYN who saw me yearly for 18 years plus through 2 pregnancies and deliveries didn't ever remember me much. The patient load of doctors is staggering. When they see you for a few minutes once a year, interspersed with many hundreds of other patients, there simply is not the exposure time to develop any kind of meaningful relationship. Of course, if one is not healthy and is in much more often, that might be different. I wouldn't know.
